Tuscarawas County Job Fair is Just Around the Corner Page 2 OMJ and Goodwill have a history of collaboration, as Goodwill has been a partner agency at OhioMeansJobs Centers in Stark and Tuscarawas Counties for many years. In 2015 their relationship reached a new level of success when they teamed up to introduce the “Dream to Achieve” program. This program serves parents of children involved in SPARK, Stark State to Hold a kindergarten readiness program offered to people living in certain zip codes. The goal “Around the Majors” Fourof “Dream to Achieve” is to help adults become better role models for their children by Night Series Page 2 offering them employment services and general life advancement opportunities. Tuscarawas County Job Fair Flier Page 3 According to Goodwill President and CEO Ken Weber, “Dream to Achieve” allows Goodwill to form a long-term relationship with parents for three to four years to help them become people of possibility. WIA Scholarship Sessions Begin in April Page 4 When accepting the award Workforce Initiative Association Executive Director Jennifer Meek Eells said, “collaboration is the key to any successful community initiative. We are so appreciative of our Goodwill partners and their collaborative spirit in working to serve those most in need. Get it from...The Source Page 2 Tuscarawas County Job Fair is Just Around the Corner O hioMeansJobs Tuscarawas County is excited to once again partner with Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-7th), WJER Radio, the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, and Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. to present the 2016 Tuscarawas County Job Fair on Thursday, May 5th at the Monroe Centre in New Philadelphia. This is the tenth Tuscarawas County Job Fair. The Job Fair will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Employers are already scheduling to be a part of this outstanding event, with more being added daily. The four-night series at the Stark State main campus at 6200 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township will include a lineup from 5:30-7:30 each night of drawings for free laptops and Akron Rubber Ducks tickets, hands-on demonstrations, free stadium food, and stats and information about different career areas: • • • • Arts and science majors, April 4 Health majors, April 5 Engineering technologies majors, April 6 Business and IT majors, April 7. Get it from...The Source Page 3 Get it from...The Source Page 4 WIA Scholarship Sessions Begin in April T he Workforce Initiative Association will be holding scholarship information sessions in April, May and June. 2016 for individuals that will begin training as of August, September, or October, 2016. Residents of Stark and Tuscarawas Counties interested in attending a session should follow these guidelines: • • • • • You must be a resident of Stark or Tuscarawas Counties You must be considered a dislocated worker or a displaced homemaker; or meet income guidelines to qualify (Eligibility may be determined at a later date) You should have already made a decision as to the type of training of interest to you. (Please visit the Resource Room for career exploration information if you have not yet decided.) College students seeking a degree must be able to graduate by the end of this school year. Scholarships are not available for those just starting a degree program Please do not bring children to the session During these sessions, attendees will be given information about the WIA Scholarship Program and the application process. Those individuals who wish to be considered for the WIA Scholarship Program will be given an eligibility application at the session to complete. They also must know the family income for the previous six months. Funding is limited. Pre-registration is not required to attend.
