WHAT IS A SAFE GRAD
Having a Safe Grad Event means we, as teachers,
parents, and community, are doing everything we can to
ensure our grads are safe while celebrating their
achievement.
HOW A SAFE GRAD WORKS
• Promoted by M.A.S.T.
• Purpose: To ensure all grads participating in grad
celebrations make it home safely.
• The mandate: That grad celebrations are held in one
supervised location and graduates are not permitted to
drive themselves home afterwards.
HOSTING A SUCCESSFUL
SAFE GRAD
In order to have a successful Safe Grad, it must have the
support of students and parents.
It is essential that there not be ANY unofficial parties
after the Safe Grad event as this would defeat the
purpose of Safe Grad.
SAFE GRAD AND ALCOHOL
• Ensuring that graduates return home safely is important
regardless of whether or not alcohol is present at an
event. Example: Grade 12 Farewell in May will be a
Safe Grad event and no alcohol will be available.
• When alcohol is present, like at the prom, then strict
MB Liquor Control Commission regulations must be
followed.
