An incredible opportunity for Trinity students ... and their parents ! Dear Parent, Recently, Trinity students Alex Browne and Jason Trapp experienced an ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ serving 122 beautiful disabled students in Kathmandu, then trekking that famous trail to Everest Base Camp. At the same time another 34 Gold Coast students were taking on the summit of Kilimanjaro and working with the incredible ‘School of St Judes’ in Tanzania, and all they can say upon their return is “every Australia child should have this experience”. So now it is your turn to absorb these profound, inspirational experiences for you and your family ! Just imagine a 20 day venture to East Africa departing Dec 4, 2013 during which you work with ‘The School of St Jude’, before venturing into East Africa’s best Safari Parks for an incredible wildlife education. Finally, take on Kilimanjaro over 6 incredible days, before winding down on the exotic island of Zanzibar. Yes ! You will be home before Christmas ! And if Africa is not your calling then join us on Jason’s and Alex’s epic adventure to Nepal and India, where we teach and work in a Nepalese primary school for disabled students, trek the inspirational Annapurnas, explore Varanasi - the ‘Holy City on the Ganges’, serve with Mother Teresa’s beautiful ‘Missionaries of Charity’ in Calcutta, before being bewitched by the breathtaking ‘Taj Mahal’. This life-shifting experience, also departs Dec 4, and would open anyone’s eyes to their enormous potential to make a global difference. These encounters are the work of ‘Pride of Australia’ Medal winner, Bernie Kelly, who drives student leadership development at Trinity. It is his company ‘Global Immersion’, who leads participants on both of these inspirational adventures. He has been doing this for 14 years. You can see highlights of these life-shifting experiences at the ‘Global Immersion’ ‘YouTube’ Channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/GIAdventures/videos?view=0&flow=grid We recommend you watch AFRICA, India Nepal MOVIE and to see the spirit of these trips make sure you watch “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, just for the laugh. If your child is in Year 10 or 11, then please consider these experiences a perfect way to build resilience and strength for the senior schooling challenges that lay ahead, but if you want to consider such a journey for the end of Year 12 then surely this is a superb way of celebrating many years of schooling, a far greater experience then the traditional ‘Schoolies,’ and an ideal way to launch ‘life after school’. We also welcome parents, many of whom seek to have that powerful family experience of standing on Kilimanjaro or working with Mother Teresa’s sisters with their child. The agendas for these wonderful encounters are attached, but the most important opportunity of all is Wednesday night March 13 in the Library commencing 7.00 pm. It is a golden opportunity to meet with Bernie in person for just one hour, so he can clearly explain the benefits of these extraordinary experiences to the development of your child. However, if by chance, it is not possible for you to attend, but you are sincerely interested, then please contact me immediately on 07 3269 9118 and we will have ‘the chat’ over the phone. INFORMATION HOUR Wednesday evening March 13th commencing 7 pm in the Library. Opportunities like this to explore and expand one’s esteem and self-worth in a safe environment with some of the best young people across the globe are rare and valuable. That’s why we congratulate you on your child’s adventurous spirit, which we would be delighted to serve and prosper. Hope to see you next Wednesday evening. There is no travel experience that can compare with a Global Immersion encounter ! It is unique, and 4 features make it so … 1. You travel with a GLOBAL COMMUNITY. I don’t know how many, but they will come from all over the world. They may be Catholics and Hindus. They are Black and White. Together, we serve the needy children of Tanzania, India and Nepal. Together we learn from, teach, sing, dance, and labour to add value to 3rd world communities. In the process of serving these beautiful children, we build a Global Community. We teambuild through serving others ! 2. The locals climb with us. We sponsor local Tanzanian children to ascend Kilimanjaro with us. You will walk with them for 6 days, chat with them, learn their culture, and they of course will learn from you. A Nepalese child will trek the 6 days in the Annapurnas with us, teaching us about Sherpa communities. This is a profound sharing experience which coaches us to embrace difference ! 3. This is not a holiday … It is a powerful 4 month educational experience ! 3 months before tour departure, the gates are closed ! No more participants are allowed to join the trip. In the next 3 months, participants will join their fellow travelers and participate in educational activities in their region and across the web. These simple exercises not only prepare them for their great adventure, but most importantly teach them local language and educate them about the communities they are about to embrace. 4. For every dollar you fund-raise … you receive a dollar off your fee ! We are building ‘The School of St Jude’ a $260,000 ‘state of the art’ Science Block and Khagendra School for the disabled, a brand new school worth $120,000. This is why we incentivise all participants to fund-raise. You will receive a ‘dollar for dollar’ deduction off your fee proportional to the amount you raised and capped at a specific target fee allocated to your expedition, usually $1000.
