T
he working families of Walton County
rely on the tourism economy. The
mission of the Tourist Development
Council is to strengthen the tourism
marketplace in our community, which
is the number one industry for all of
Walton County. Stewardship of this
coastal paradise is made possible
through tourism revenues. Did you know that for
every 85 visitors, one Florida job is created? In Walton
County, tourism is the number one industry— impacting
approximately seven billion dollars in our local economy.
6
P E R F E C T i n S O U T H WA L T O N AWA R D S
Tourism impacts every facet of our community including
accommodations, restaurants, galleries, and more. Caring
for this coastal paradise is made possible through tourism
revenues with over $100,000,000 being available for
nourishment of Walton County’s coastline in our lifetime.
All of these funds are produced through visitors staying
in the beautiful place we all call South Walton. The TDC
will continue to maintain the beaches and serve as a
responsible leader in maintaining the quality of tourism
related experiences in Walton County.

opportunities in South Walton among
the forests, trails, and lakes found in
our 16 beach neighborhoods. South
Walton is one of few places on Earth
with coastal dune lakes, rare bodies of brackish
water. Peaceful dune lakes offer kayaking,
swimming, fishing, and stand up paddleboarding.
Miles of trails in one of South Walton’s many state

and vibrant wildlife. And the turquoise waters of
