Happy Halloween from Campus Police! HEY KIDS! We want you to HAVE FUN! on Halloween– but be sure to STAY SAFE!! Here’s some ideas that the University of Windsor Campus Community Police have for you. Follow them to be safe! Carry a flashlight and always trick-or-treat with an adult. Have them check your candy first before you eat it!!!! Walk, don’t run, and use sidewalks. Obey the traffic signals. Stay only in familiar neighbourhoods. Don’t cut across driveways or yards. Only go to houses that are lit. Stay away from and don’t pet animals you don’t know. Make sure your costume doesn’t drag on the ground. Wear shoes that fit– even if they don’t go with the costume. Never carry sharp objects. Help Sid the Mummy find the end of his bandages! Scaredy Bat Old Witch Wendy’s Tips for Parents! Make a favourite dinner before trick-or-treating so there is less temptation to snack while outside. All youngsters should be accompanied by an adult. Ensure the costume is flame-resistant, has reflective material on it, and is not dragging on the ground. Avoid masks– have the kids use stage make-up instead. Discard any candy that looks suspicious and fruit. Give the kids a flashlight. Always trick-or-treat early, right after dinner. Have the kids draw the face on the Jack-o-lanterns and you cut the shapes out. Establish a return time for the kids. Can you colour the Jack-O-Lanterns?
