Message from the Director, Rose Swidan
We are looking forward to a very exciting and busy month for our seniors, and our City. First is our
annual Health Fair on Sept. 13th. This is a very special opportunity for all of
these health vendors and providers to come right to you! Please make sure
you pre-register for your flu and shingles shots. Cold and flu season will be
here before we know it and I want all of us to be protected against these
dangerous illnesses.
Sept. 16th-18th is of course our wonderful Pumpkin Festival. It is a great
weekend with the Parade of Lights, music, kids games, contests and of
course, all the vendors. Stop by the Senior Center as we will also be hosting
some vendors. If you would like to have a table inside at the Center to sell
any crafts or other homemade items, please contact us at (734) 955-4120.
Remember all contest entries (canned or baked goods, sunflowers or more)
must be brought to the Center on Thursday, September 15th before 2:00 p.m.
Don’t forget to join us for a pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday at the
Historical park to help support the Boy Scouts. Come out to bingo at the
Senior Center all Festival weekend to support the Romulus Animal Shelter! We will have a bus
entering the Parade of Lights. If you are interested in riding on the bus in the Parade, please sign up
as seats are limited on a first come first served basis.
All my love,
Rose

Message from Mayor Burcroff
First, congratulations to all of our Senior Olympians. I had a great time
cheering you on at the opening ceremonies and was very proud of how you
represented Romulus. Thank you for those that came to the City Council
meeting—please continue to help me spread the word on your experience so
we can send even more competitors next year.
Please take advantage of the special services offered at the Health Fair on
the 13th. Taking care of yourself and staying healthy is sometimes one of the
hardest things to prioritize, but it really is an investment in your quality of life
now, and into the future. I hope to see you there.
There will certainly be a lot of fun and activities to choose from during
Pumpkin Festival weekend. This is one of my favorite times of the year for
our city. From the music and art to the car and tractor shows and everything
in between—there’s something for everyone.
Let’s have fun and enjoy it together.
Sincerely,
LeRoy D. Burcroff, Mayor of Romulus
