The Ardleigh Green campus is host to a large
number of courses and facilities such as:

Ardleigh Green is located between the towns of
Hornchurch and Romford. Both have direct rail
links to Essex and London. Romford is a hub
of entertainment containing a large shopping
centre, a cinema, bowling alley, ice rink, sports
and recreational facilities and the historic
Romford Market.

How to Enrol on a course
Rainham Campus Construction Centre

The Construction Centre is a dedicated facility
that delivers high level training in all areas of
construction crafts. It can be easily reached
by bus and is a short walk from the c2c rail
network and historic Rainham Village.

A dedicated vocational resource, equipped to
the highest industry standards provides Hair and
Beauty training from level 1 to Management skills.
General Information
All of the three main campus benefit from a

the college sites
Many of our vocational training centers are
based at our Quarles campus including:

Quarles is a 20 minute bus ride from the centre
of Romford and a short distance from the local
shopping centre. Harold Hill features many
open spaces including the expansive central
park and home to the Central Park Leisure
Centre.

Step 1
Once you have decided what you want to study
complete an application form and return it to us
as soon as possible.

What do I need to bring with me when
I enrol?
If you bring the following documents with
you when you come to enrol it will help us to
process your application more quickly.
•Passport /immigration papers
•Home Office papers (if appropriate)
•Documents that prove your identity
and address
•Current letter or award notice
(if you wish to claim concessionary fees)
•Letter (on headed paper) from sponsor/
employer if they are paying your fees
•Qualification certificate or exam results
(if appropriate)
and if you need to pay fees, cash, cheque, debit
or credit cards are accepted.
Step 2
You may be asked to come along for an
interview with a tutor and in some cases enrol
you straight away. You may be be required to
sit a Literacy & Numeracy Assessment prior to
enrolment.
Step 3
Once you and the tutor have decided the right
course, and there are places available, you
will be offered a place. (This may be subject to
exam results)

You will need to pay a £45 administration fee
plus your course and exam fees when you
enrol. However, you will not have to pay tuition
fees on Further Education courses if you are:
•19-23 and taking your first full level 2 course
•19-24 and taking your first full level 3 course
•Taking a course that is mostly adult basic
education (not including ESOL)
•Receiving income-based jobseeker’s
allowance*
•Receiving Employment Supplement
allowance*
•Over 16 and under 19 on 31st August 2012
and a home student, you will not have to pay
college admin fee, course
or exam fees.
*Proof will be required.
You may however have other expenses, such as
books, stationery and travel. For some courses
you have to buy special clothing or equipment
or pay for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
check before you start. If you are an overseas
student the international fee structure will apply.

Formally enrol at our Ardleigh Green Campus.
Charlotte – a Level 1 Hospitality and
Catering student walked away with the title
of Ideal Cake Decorator of the Year 2012 in
a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee cake
competition at the Ideal Home Exhibition.
College Life
What will it cost?
Dean Hagnere, 19, completed a BTEC
Diploma Level 3 in Vehicle Technology
(Motorsport) with two Distinctions and one
Merit and secured his place at Hertfordshire
University to study for a BEng Honours in
Automotive Engineering with Motorsport.

How can I pay?
You can pay by cash, cheque, debit, credit card
or bacs payment.
If your employer writes us a letter agreeing to it
we can bill them direct. Please bring with you
when you enrol.
If your fees are over £300 and your course lasts
for more than 6 months we can arrange for you
to pay in 3 installments.
If your fees are over £800 and your course lasts
for more than 7 months we can arrange for you
to pay in 4 installments.
Financial support and advice
There is plenty of help available from our
Student Services Team. Call them to make an
appointment, they can advise you on planning
your money and funding your studies or
childcare costs.
Discretionary Learner Support Fund
Students over 19 studying on a full or part
time course that have a household income
of £16,500 or below (or up to £21,000 in
exceptional circumstances) can apply. The
student / parent of the student would usually be
receiving a means tested benefit.
Assistance may be given towards course
related costs such as equipment, materials,
books, work experience, essential residential
and in some cases travel costs. (A contribution
towards these costs will be made subject
to funding).
Teaching and Learning
Tutors at Havering College are trained highly
qualified professionals in their field. They are
dedicated to ensuring that our students reach
their full potential by remaining up to date with
the current industry and business standards
and building external links to benefit our
students’ learning experience and employability
potential. Havering College was officially
graded as a “Good College” in in our recent
Ofsted report. (February 2011)
Learning Support is a service that provides
students enrolled on a course at the College the
opportunity to seek additional support to assist
them in achieving academic success.

College Rainham Campus Construction

the requirements of industry. Foundations Degrees at Havering College require two
years of full-time study or part-time over three years.

With high quality provision on your doorstep there is no need to incur hefty debts to
reach your full potential. Our current full time tuition fees for for 2012/13 start from
just £5000 per year, with grants and loans available to provide support.
Access Courses
Access Courses are a great stepping stone to Higher Education. If you’d like to do a
degree but don’t have the entry qualifications, an Access Course is the perfect way

Foundation Degrees
Developed for the modern world, providing much needed high-level skills and work
experience, Foundation Degrees (FD) enable students to enter their chosen career
or top-up to Bachelors degree at university. Designed to remain current with needs
and trends in the workplace, the qualification you achieve will be tailored to meet
the requirements of industry. Foundations Degrees at Havering College require two
years of full-time study or part-time over three years.
