a message
from the pastor
Every church has five Biblical assignments:
1. Reach out through inviting others to experience Jesus as Savior and Lord
2. Preach, which includes worship, praise, and adoration
3. Teach the word of God
4. Fellowship with other Christians
5. Serve, which means to meet human need in the name of Jesus
While every church is assigned to do all five, usually each church emphasizes one more than the others. At
Dawson we believe that God has led us to emphasize serving.
I hope you will give attention to the picture that is on the front of the Together each week. It is my favorite
visual image of Dawson as it shows the people leaving our church building. Being found faithful is not about
what we do when we are inside of the building on Sunday mornings but what we do when we leave. God has
called every Christian to serve and He has equipped us through spiritual gifts to fulfill that calling.
I invite you to use this Ministry Guide to find one or more places that you can serve. Even if you have served
for years, God may be calling you to do something new. If you have never served, our staff would love to help
you find what God is calling you to do. Please take some time to review the ministry opportunities presented
here and pray for God’s direction about where He wants you to serve. You will be blessed immeasurably and
God will use you to bless others.
Your Pastor,
Gary Fenton

How to become a
follower of jesus
*
Realize that you are totally estranged from God and separated from
Him by a sinful nature. (Romans 3:23)
You alone cannot reconcile your relationship with God. (Romans 6:23)
Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was God’s provision for your restoration.
(Romans 5:8)
God asks that you turn from your sin and accept the sacrifice Jesus
made on the cross. (Romans 10:9)
God promises that anyone who accepts Jesus as Savior will be saved.
(Romans 10:13)
A follower of Jesus will want to give witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus through believer’s baptism by immersion and by uniting
in the fellowship of a church. (Matthew 28:19)
