With his extraordinary talent, disarming wit, handsome features and compelling stage presence, Peter Noone has
long been a Palace patron favorite. Back for a reprise performance of his 2004 visit, this leader of the British invasion
is one of the most recognized pop stars from the 1960s.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Where would we be without our volunteer workforce? We say it often, and it’s true. We couldn’t do it without them! The Palace Theatre is fortunate to
have so many in our community who love and appreciate the Palace, and as a result, volunteer their time and talents here to help us with our events.
The son of an accountant, Noone attended Wellacre Primary School in Flixton and Stretford Grammar School near
Manchester. Noone studied voice and drama at St Bede’s College, Manchester and Manchester School of Music, where
he won the Outstanding Young Musician Award.
Early in his career, he used the stage name Peter Novak. At the age of 15, he became the lead singer, spokesman, and frontman of Herman’s Hermits.
As “Herman,” the photogenic Noone appeared on the cover of many international publications, including the Time Magazine’s cover collage showing
new faces in popular music. As Herman, Peter achieved international fame, and ultimately, Herman’s Hermits sold over sixty million recordings. In all,
fourteen singles and seven albums went gold. The Hermits were twice named Cashbox’s “Entertainer of the Year.”
But perhaps one area that most folks don’t consider when volunteering is the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ. Currently, we have a small crew (Dave Kohler,
Jack Shaffer, Joe Weygandt, and Dan Wade) who dedicate themselves to maintaining the Wurly. We appreciate their efforts in keeping this unique gem
operational. These gentlemen are always looking for additional volunteers who might like to
help maintain the organ. They are quick to add -- no experience is necessary! Any responsible
individuals are welcome, and young people are encouraged to get involved.
With 24 Gold Hits and over 51 million records sold worldwide, Peter’s fans span 3 generations. His hits include I’m Into Something Good, Mrs. Brown You’ve Got
A Lovely Daughter, There’s A Kind Of Hush, Leaning On The Lamp Post, and I’m Henry VIII, I Am.
The tasks range from general maintenance of the organ to performing electronic/electrical
upgrades. A basic knowledge of electronics would be helpful but is not necessary. The original
parts of the organ date to 1924. The electronics upgrades are 1970’s -1980’s vintage. There are even
some tasks that might include some basic woodworking skills. Chamber work requires climbing
ladders approximately twelve to fourteen feet in height. Also needed are musically inclined
volunteers to help with tuning and related music needs.
Over the decades, Peter Noone has continued to impress on the theatrical stage, giving commanding performances throughout Great Britain, on Broadway
and around the globe. He has also guest starred on numerous television shows; most recently in the recurring role of Paddington on the CBS daytime
drama, As The World Turns.

In addition to his singing career, Peter took to the entertainment industry when as a child he played Stanley Fairclough in the long-running British soap
opera Coronation Street. He was also featured in the television series Knight Errant, Family Solicitor, and Monro’s Saki Stories.
Besides touring with ‘Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone,’ Noone has appeared on American Idol in March 2007 as a mentor for male contestants,
also performing There’s a Kind of Hush that season. In 2011, Peter voiced Adrian of the band Tiny Cowboy in Disney Channel’s show Phineas and Ferb with Davy
Jones of The Monkees as fellow band member Nigel.

The Cincinnati duo, known for their acoustic lush‐pop, has garnered awards and acclaim since their
debut in 2006. Honing their sound (described as Ben Folds meets Sarah McLachlan) through extensive
touring, the band has shared the stage with luminaries Hem, Vienna Teng, Teddy Thompson, Over the
Rhine and Dar Williams.

fast days. That was over 8 years ago, and their music reflects the kind of emotional sensitivity and
confidence that would turn a moment of spontaneity into some kind of indie‐rock fairytale.

Trolley Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Whenever I’m with You and A
Day in New York.

MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is the stage version of the memorable 1944 MGM
motion picture, which starred Judy Garland, Margaret O’Brien, Mary Astor,
Lucille Bremer, Tom Drake and Marjorie Main. From November 1989 to June 1990, the musical played for 252 performances on
Broadway at the George Gershwin Theatre starring Betty Garrett, George Hearn, Charlotte Moore and Milo O’Shea.
“It’s not like we don’t have problems,” explains Tasha, “but that moment definitely set the tone for us.
When you’re honest about who you are and you speak up about it, you can connect quickly and solidly.
That’s what we’ve always gone for in our songs. It’s what we’re always hoping for at our shows.”
Auditions for the Palace production were held December 28 and 29. The cast will be announced in the next edition of the Applause.
A win at 2007’s NewSong International Songwriting Contest, a PBS concert event (aired in 40+ markets) and multiple latter round placements in Paste
Magazine’s Cayamo Cruise Contest highlight the band’s many achievements.
