AID GUIDE
FOR THE
2015-2016
SCHOOL YEAR
Andrean High School offers a variety of ways to
help provide financial assistance for your child’s high
school tuition.
Available Financial Assistance Programs
• Diocese of Gary Parish Tuition Discount and Assistance
• Need Based Tuition Assistance
• Indiana Choice Scholarship Program
• SGO Scholarship funds
• Academic Achievement scholarships
• Academic/Service based scholarships
• Red Crew Work-Study Program
ALL need based tuition assistance, including IN Choice,
requires a complete application through Private School
Aid Service (PSAS). If it is determined by PSAS that
a family qualifies for IN Choice or SGO scholarship,
Andrean’s Financial Aid office will automatically apply
for the scholarship on behalf of the family.
It is possible for a student to qualify for multiple types
of assistance. The need-based tuition assistance and
IN Choice Scholarship Program are the most common
forms of financial aid at Andrean. Regardless of the
amount of tuition assistance, each Andrean family will
be responsible for 10% of total annual tuition and fees.
Work-Study Program
Red Crew — Andrean students who have been given a spot on the
Red Crew will receive $1500 tuition credit annually by working in a
variety of ways on campus during the school year.
Red Crew is supervised and monitored by a member of the Andrean
faculty. Red Crew will meet at the beginning of the school year with the
supervisor and be assigned to a Red Crew Team. Each “team” will be
responsible for specific tasks to fulfill the obligation of tuition assistance.
Red Crew members are selected annually from applicants using the
Andrean scholarship application, meeting all scholarship criteria and
based on PSAS information.

receives a $240 tuition discount annually.
Tuition Assistance — All Andrean students that belong to a Diocese
of Gary Catholic Parish are encouraged to apply for financial aid through
their individual parish office. The Diocese uses PSAS (Private School
Aid Service). These forms are available annually at every Diocese of
Gary parish office near the end of January. All Catholic families are
encouraged to apply for financial aid from the Diocese of Gary for
future enrollment. (including incoming freshman or transfer student
for the following school year.)
Need Based Tuition Assistance
Andrean Tuition Assistance
Andrean students that do not belong to a Diocese of Gary Catholic
Parish, or families that have missed the Diocesan Tuition Assistance
application deadline, are encouraged to apply for financial aid through
Andrean. Andrean also uses PSAS (Private School Aid Service).
The PSAS form is available annually at Andrean at the end of January.
Andrean uses the information from PSAS to distribute assistance
according to family need and the amount of funds the school has
available. All Andrean financial assistance is confidential and funded
by Andrean High School.
Indiana Choice Scholarship Program
In 2011, the Indiana General Assembly established the Indiana
Choice Scholarship Voucher Program, which is intended to provide
opportunities for low and middle income families to send their children
to the private school of their choice. The program creates a scholarship
“voucher” that will enable families to access a portion of the per-pupil
state funding in their area to be used toward the private school tuition.

Voucher program and is working with eligible families to assist them with
the application process. To be eligible for participation in the IN Choice

Academic Excellence Scholarships
Andrean Entrance Exam Scholarship — An Andrean Academic
Excellence Scholarship is awarded to ten students scoring highest on
the STS Entrance Exam given to students in December and January of
the 8th grade year. The Academic Excellence Award is an academic
scholarship worth $1000 for the student’s freshman year.
Families of students earning an Academic Excellence Award who also
qualify for need-based tuition assistance will receive priority status as long
as they apply through PSAS. The Academic Excellence award amount
will be in addition to any need-based tuition assistance for which a family
qualifies for that school year through the tuition assistance process.
Families that have no financial need for the monetary award may donate
the full amount of the award back to the Andrean Annual Fund. Families
choosing to do so would receive full recognition for their gift from the
Development Office at Andrean High School, and all gifts are taxdeductible to the fullest extent of the law.
