Gymnastics is more than «just» gymnastics for all or an elite sport.
Gymnastics is about more than «just» performance and results.
Gymnastics brings people together, makes long-term friendships and
extend their social network; it keeps people fit and healthy and is a way
of getting involved in a cultural activity.

History
1832 Foundation of the Federal Gymnastics Society (FGS)
1908 Foundation of the Swiss Association for Women’s Gymnastics
(SAWG)
1985 Foundation of the Swiss Gymnastics Federation (SGF)
(merger of the FGS and the SAWG)
Today, with approximately 370, 000 members, the SGF is the largest
and oldest sports federation in Switzerland.
Members take centre stage
The SGF is committed to serving its members and associations within
the sporting, political and economic arenas and across the linguistic
spectrum of Switzerland.
The SGF represents its members and associations in the public sphere
and works to raise public awareness of them.
The SGF has been committed towards the health of the population
for 180 years.

The Gymnastics-for-All Department is continually developing competition
programmes, along with the regulations for these.

 Several national Individual and Club Championships held annually
 The Federal Gymnastics Festival (FGF) is the major sporting event
in Switzerland, staged every six years.
 In addition, the SGF is represented at various international events such

- World Gymnaestrada

- Golden Age Gym Festival
- Eurogym
 Gymotion is an unforgettable event for sports fans and art and
culture lovers alike.

At the top with the elite
 Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics are all elite sports
under the SGF umbrella.
 The SGF’s aims in all three disciplines are:
- Medals and rankings at World and European Championships

Top Events
 Swiss Cup Zürich – an international artistic gymnastics pair
competition, which has been taking place for over 30 years.
 The SGF is regularly in the public eye as organiser of World and
European Championships.

Foundation for the future
The SGF’s extensive range of high quality training and development
courses ensures that well-trained coaches, trainers and officials are
active in the clubs and associations.
This provides a level of quality assurance which enables these

TRAININGANDDEVELOPMENT
The SGF Congress – The sport and training event with a difference
 The SGF Congress takes place every year in March (German-speaking
region) and September (French-speaking region) for 2 days (from CHF
99.–)
 For the optional elements, participants can choose from:
- Aerobics and Dance
- Health and Movement
- Gymnastics and Team Sports
 Advanced training is also offered in Y+S (Youth + Sport)
