Simple things
What a Blessing it is to serve the Lord with each of you. Thank you for your
support that allows us to share with you stories like this: Jerry Cabluck,
Director of our Welcome Back Program, came in today and shared with
me that at the Parole Office this morning a volunteer from a local church
brought flowers for the ladies coming back to Tarrant County from prison.
All the ladies were overwhelmed with the expression of Christ’s Love coming
from Christ’s people. They were given lunch and an invitation to come to
Cornerstone to get the help they need to re-enter the free world.
Or the lady I met in the computer lab while I was giving a tour to a new
foundation. She had just graduated from the Cornerstone Christian Women’s

Job Corp (CCWJC). CCWJC is headed by Janet Powers and teaches women

job-readiness skills. Each lady has a mentor to help her work her way back
to independence. This lady was smiling from ear-to-ear as I shared with the
foundation what CCWJC was all about. She spoke up and shared that she
had just graduated and was starting a new job in two weeks and that she was wearing a dress that she had
received at the Thrift Store. She was ready to start a new life of hope and success.
What an opportunity we have to see things like this every day. You should feel good about your part of
these successes. Without your faithfulness financially, through volunteering, and prayer we could not bring
you these wonderful examples of our work together. Simple things add up to make our ministry vital.
Along those lines, I want to encourage you to read about our upcoming Golf Tournament on October
4th. The format has changed to a scramble, yet we are still encouraging teams to raise money the way
they did in the Marathon Format. There will be two prize pools; one for the team that raises the most
money and one for the scramble team with the lowest scores. First Prize for the team that raises the
most money is a suite for 20 at a 2011 Rangers Game. First Prize for the scramble is 4 round-trip tickets
anywhere Southwest Airlines flies.
We are going to make this the best event of the year but we need 18 teams of 4 to commit to raising
at least $2,500 to support God’s work here at Cornerstone. Please read the rest of the newsletter for

returning from prison, distributing more
than 2400 items of clothing and helping
over 439 additional family members. Many of those returning have their high
school diploma or GED, but we are
helping over 45 men and women with

Ray Coleman has a unique ministry he gives out flowers to the returning
women. Something we men, including
me, seldom think about. Humbling to
say the least!!

announce that we are moving
closer to building our first
three homes for low-income families. Our
house plans have been completed and
approved. We have signed a commitment
letter with the City of Fort Worth and hope
to begin building by October 1, 2010. Please continue to pray that God would
prepare the way. “Unless the Lord builds
the house, They labor in vain who build
it,” Psalms 127:1.

at Cornerstone?” you told us:
“Knowing you are helping a program
that does so much good for others…
You meet some really great people…It
feels like you are part of a family, God’s
family!…Hearing from those that I have
helped that I have made an impact…
The smiles and friendly people that
work there are real. Everyone believes
in what they do…I get an absolutely
wonderful sense of fulfillment when
a woman changes her spiritual or
professional life and I know I had a tiny
part in it…Doing something that pleases
the Lord…Treasure in heaven!” In the first
half of 2010, over 300 volunteers donated
nearly 5,000 hours of service to people
in need through Cornerstone Assistance
Network. We hope you will answer the

ornerstone partnered with Riverside
Baptist Church, using space to have our
annual Fine Arts Camp (funded by the
Bernau Foundation), as well as Vacation Bible
School for the children in the community.
Cornerstone food pantry is now receiving food
from Tarrant Area Food Bank at the Noble location,
allowing us to provide food for more families in
the community. (Call Jesse or Kristen to find out
how you can volunteer at the Food Bank on behalf
of Cornerstone.)

The Format:
This year’s Tournament will be a scramble format. Entry
fees are $2500/team or $625/individual. There are
two opportunities for your team to win Grand prizes.
Opportunity One
Your team’s fundraising efforts on behalf of Cornerstone.
The player/ team asks others to sponsor them in his/
her effort to raise a minimum of $2,500 per team.
The team that raises the most money is the winner of
a 20-person Suite for a 2011 Rangers Home Game.
Opportunity Two
Lowest team score in the scramble. Winning
team will receive 4 round-trip tickets to anywhere
Southwest Airlines flies. Additional prizes for
Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive.
The Team Captain is responsible for recruiting his
team and spearheading the fund-raising efforts.
Remember, you can win prizes for both fund-raising
(minimum of $2500/team) and for the Scramble.
Your team submits a list of names and addresses of
the people to whom you would like to send a pledge
request letter. We will format the letters, include
a Golf brochure for them to indicate their pledge
amount, and keep track of what your team has raised.
Individuals may sign up (pay or raise minimum
of $625) and will be assigned to a team the
day of the Scramble. (Individuals can win the
fundraising grand prize if the amount they
raised is the highest amount overall.)
The sooner you sign up and let us send your
letters, the sooner your team will be on
its way to winning the Grand Prize!
