A meeting with the Pastor is required followed by attendance at the preparation class if its your first child or its been more than three years since you last attended a Baptismal class. Call the office to start the process. Please do not set any dates or make other arrangements until you meet with Father. Under normal circumstances Baptisms will take place on the first Saturday of the month. Sacrament of Marriage: Must be registered and participating parishioners. Diocesan policy is that a period of six months be allowed for preparation. Please do not set a date until you have met with the pastor. Sacraments for the Sick: When ill health or age prevent you from receiving the Sacraments, please inform us of your needs and location whether at home, in a care facility or hospital. We are only able to serve you when YOU request the parish office to do so. Anointing of the Sick is for people who are ill, facing surgery, or advanced in years. It should be celebrated before entry into the hospital if possible. Please call the Parish Office to make arrangements with the pastor as soon as you know you have a need for this Sacrament. Donohue III will serve as the new principal of our parish school, St. John Paul II. Mr. Donohue is a na ve of the New York City metropolitan area. He and his wife Mary Claire raised their five children in New Hampshire. He was the inaugural principal of St. John Paul II High School in Greenville, NC since 2012. For a more complete bio of Mr. Donohue’s experience in educa on see the press release posted on our parish website. Please join Father Andrew in welcoming Mr. Donohue to our parish school. On the Fourth of July, Mass will be held at the normal time—12 Noon, No Adoration will be held that day. We can always use the following food items: Breakfast Cereal, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Saltine Crackers, Pasta, Tuna, Macaroni and Cheese, and Fruit. We can also re-use paper grocery bags. Due to the generosity of the Campbell Soup Plant in Maxton, we have plenty of Soup, Pasta Sauce and Pork n Beans. You may place non perishable food items in the baskets in the back of church on week ends or drop them off at the parish office week days between the hours of 9am—4pm. Thank you for helping to stock our pantry to feed those in need in our community. Java With Jesus July 11th—15th A Catholic Bible Study Coffee Session for Teens. Join us a er the VBS Skits for coffee & donuts as we open up the Word of God. We will meet in the Upper Room of the Parish Office (use the outside steps in the back of the building). Monday—Friday 9:15am to 11:15am. Bring a Bible if you have one, if you don’t come anyway. Sessions will be facilitated by Seminarian Steven DiMassimo. The St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery Committee has been formed and will have their first meeting soon to begin their ministry in the parish. The Committee Purpose and Scope The purpose of the Committee is to look after the day-to-day operation of the cemetery as well as its perpetual care. The Committee is consultative and advisory to the Pastor. Reporting to the Pastor is done through the Administrative Assistant of the parish, John Rowell. The Cemetery Committee also reports to the Parish Pastoral Council. The scope of the Committee is as follows: 1. Establishing rules and regulations 2. Maintenance of physical property 3. Maintenance of records 4. Financial aspects 5. Eucharistic Minister to the Sick Wanted We are now accepting applications for new members for this ministry. If you have been thinking about doing more for Jesus and your soul but you’re just not sure what would be a good fit for you—consider becoming a Eucharistic Minister to the sick. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Según san Mateo, una noche mientras los discípulos estaban en la barca de Pedro, Jesús vino hacía ellos caminando sobre el mar. Ellos se espantaron creyendo que era un fantasma de algún pescador pero él los calmó diciendo “¡Ánimo!, que soy yo; no teman”. Debió ser impactante ver al Señor caminar sobre las aguas, especialmente en una época donde las aguas venían consideradas como el caos. En varias partes de latinoamerica los fieles celebran a distintos santos con procesiones de barcos sobre ríos o mares. En el Puerto de Paita, Perú se llevan a los santos Pedro y Pablo en una procesión acuática. San Pedro, que fue pescador, está en casa sobre la barca, ya que normalmente son barcas de pescadores las que forman la procesión. Esta procesión reconoce el caos del mar reconociendo a los pescadores, que durante el año perdieron sus vidas en el mar, con guirnaldas lanzadas a la bahía.
