The first Sunday of the month was devoted to honoring our graduates from the Class of 2014. On the second Sunday in May, we honored our mothers with a special celebration service. Last Sunday, we turned our attention to the Senior Adults in our church to honor them for their service to our Lord, our church, and our community. This Sunday, will be a special Memorial Day Service to remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The service will include several patriotic musical selections and a minimusical presented by the Sanctuary Choir. Make plans to bring your entire family and join us for this time of remembrance. Southern Revelation Gospel Quartet Make plans to join us on Sunday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. for a concert featuring the Southern Revelation Gospel Quartet. The group will bring a fresh touch to the old classic hymns that we enjoy hearing so much and add some new things to show they keep up with today’s gospel music. In addition to the classic sound of quartet harmony, you will enjoy the group’s playful antics. Most of all, the group will remind us through song that there is nothing more important than the message of the grace of God. Mark your calendars for this event and bring a friend! Youth Ministry This past Sunday concluded Our Blessed Hope Bible study. We discussed the Resurrection body, the Final Judgment, the Lake of Fire, and the New Heaven & the New Earth. We had quite a lengthy discussion because any time you discuss eternity, you can be sure it will take a long time! Even though we may not know or understand all the fine details, we can rest assured knowing the outcome is never in doubt. Jesus wins, and if we have put our faith in Him as our Lord and Savior, we too will receive “praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 1:7). I had a great time doing this Bible study with you all, and I would like to thank everyone for participating. I enjoyed all the questions and answers and the back-and-forth we had—I think we all learned a lot, and I would love to do a similar Bible study in the future. The wonderful thing about studying the Bible—no matter the topic—is the spiritual growth that comes about as a result of immersing ourselves in God’s Word. Our God has reached out to us as His children in an attempt to establish a loving, eternal relationship; as believers, we have a duty to reciprocate His outreach by placing our faith totally in Him and relating to Him directly through Bible study and prayer. Even in the times of life when turbulence comes about, we must never forsake the reason for which we were created—to have a faithful, loving relationship with Jesus Christ as our Creator, Savior, and Sustainer—and the only way we can thoroughly relate to Him is through consistent communication with Him through Bible study and prayer. Y’all are the best! Colin FUGE 2014: FUGE this year will be at Mississippi College on July 6-10. Another $100 deposit is due by the end of this month. The total cost is $290 per person. If you worked the youth fair booth in October, I have the amount of money you earned from that as well. Please sign up and reserve you spot as soon as possible. Dear First Baptist Church, Thank you so much for the beautiful Bible and book! Thank y’all for teaching me about the love of Christ and how important my relationship with Him is. Over the years, y’all have blessed me tremendously. I can’t explain how much y’all impacted my life and made me a better lady. I know I can always return home to my church family. Thank you!!
