ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME DINNER & PROGRAM
6 pm - Physical Education Center
Join us as we recognize and honor this distinguished class of
inductees for their notable contributions to Crusader Athletics.
A complete list of the 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees can be
found at Crusader Athletics, http://athletics.alvernia.edu/
Cost: $25 per person (This dinner is not included in the student
meal plan).
MUSIC: THE ICARUS ACCOUNT
7 pm in Crusader Café
The brothers Ty and Trey, that make up The Icarus Account,
are living their dream as professional musicians writing songs
that strike an emotional chord with their listeners. As The Icarus
Account, they’ve learned a lot about writing and performing, but
ultimately the goal has never changed. Come listen to this music
duo, enjoy some coffee, tea, and small snacks as they continue to
pursue this passion of moving an audience.

8-10 pm–Trooper Thorn’s
Graduates of the last decade, join us at Trooper’s for an evening
of socializing and remembering your days at Alvernia. Great fun
and a terrific way to stay connected and catch up with friends

Come out for this fast paced, interactive
variety show featuring some amazing
magic, juggling and sideshow stunts
(accompanied by plenty of laughs!).
Michael DuBois has performed for NBC’s
Tonight Show, the Late Show with David
Letterman and over 500 colleges and universities around the
country (including Alvernia!).

CRUSADER SCAVENGER HUNT
And you thought you knew everything there is to know about
Alvernia’s campus. Well, we’ll see. We have put together a great
campus-wide scavenger hunt for individuals and families to
enjoy. Those who complete the hunt will be entered into a raffle
for some really great prizes. Start your scavenger hunt by picking
up an instruction sheet at the Homecoming & Family Weekend
Registration Desk located in the Student Center from 10:30 am
to 1:30 pm.

“A SPIRITUAL CHECK UP FOR BUSY PEOPLE”

Just like we go to the doctor for regular checkups on our
health, we need to take time for a spiritual checkup as well.
Join Sister Christen and Julianne Wallace, Director of Campus
Ministry, to discuss your spiritual checkup.
CAMPUS WIDE PICNIC ON THE QUAD
11:30 am - 2 pm
Join us on the Quad for a picnic lunch. Menu includes grilled
hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, buffalo chicken
drumsticks, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, Caesar salad,
watermelon, brownies, water, ice tea and lemonade. Catch up
with old friends or make new ones. Enjoy music, take part in a
game or two or just relax. (In case of rain, picnic will be in the
Student Center)

What are the six basic forms of Energy? Can you pour sound?
We’ll try! Explore potential and kinetic energy as well as the Law
of Conservation. Watch a hover craft take a lucky student for
quite a ride! Let’s become detectives and search during some
awesome demonstrations. Presented by Science Explorers.

Presenter: Dr. Tim Blessing, Professor of History
& Political Science
Dr. Tim Blessing, Alvernia University presidential expert, will provide an insiders perspective on the Presidential Election. Dr.
Blessing has been a researcher in Leadership and Presidential
Studies since 1979 and is a respected individual in evaluations
of presidential performances for more than three decades.
10:30 -11:30 am - Francis Hall Theatre
Grab a cup of a coffee and join University President, Dr. Tom
Flynn, Provost, Dr. Shirley Williams and Vice President for
University Life and Dean of Students, Dr. Joe Cicala to learn about
the latest and future developments regarding Alvernia. Questions
and inquiries welcomed.
1-4 pm – Tent by Francis Hall
Drop in the Crusader Zone to enjoy some balloon art, partake in
fun photo opportunities, pick out your airbrush tattoos and much
more. Snacks available.
ARTS & CRAFTS FOR EVERYONE
4-5 pm – Hike will begin at Physical Education Center
Join Alvernia’s sustainability student leadership team for a
guided hike through Angelica Park, located next to Alvernia
University. We will explore its varied habitats and share the park’s
unique history and partnership that has exciting events in store
for 2017! Please wear hiking boots/shoes. Your guides: Holleran
Center for Community Engagement.

Alvernia’s campus was your home while you were learning,
growing, and preparing for your career. Your memories from those
years will never change – but your classmates and campus have.
A special reception recognizing those classes ending in One or
Six plus our Nursing alumni has been planned just for you. Come
and enjoy a beverage or two with your favorite faculty member,
administrator or staff.

MOVIE: SECRET LIFE OF PETS
5:30 pm – Bernardine Hall Lecture Hall
Have you ever wondered what your pets do when you leave the
house each day? Join in the adventures of a privileged inner-city
terrier who teams up with a spirited mongrel to prevent a sinister
bunny from assembling an army of abandoned pets to stage a
massive uprising! Enjoy popcorn and a chance to win some
purrrrr-fect raffle prizes.
Children under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.
AUTUMN BLAST
6-9 p.m. – Tent at Francis Hall
Join us for our fall version of MargaritaVern!
Visit and connect with alumni, faculty and staff. Music by
“Jump the Gun,” food, drinks (our own Alvernia signature drink),
and plenty of time for great conversation.
Cost: $10.00 per person. This event is for alumni, faculty, and
staff. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age.

PAWS, CLAWS, SCALES AND TAILS
Crusader Sporting Events
2-3 pm – Francis Hall Theatre
This variety program focuses on the adaptations
that animals use for survival in the wild. Paws, claws,
scales and tails are important for defense, finding food, eating,
swimming and escaping predators. Presented by Zoo America.
ALVERNIA BINGO
FIGHT BACK: SELF DEFENSE TACTICS AND TIPS
MARK HAYWARD: YO-YOS & UNIQUE TRICKS
3-4 pm – Francis Hall Theatre
Join us for this interactive, empowering, and educational seminar
that will allow you to step into the world of the martial arts. You
will learn how to set boundaries, prepare for difficult situations,
and build confidence not only through martial arts but in your
daily life.
Presenters - Alumna Kayla Morgan '13/M '16 and her father
MichaelMorgan. Together, they have 40 years of martial arts
experience and dedicate their lives to empowering others.
9:30 pm – Francis Hall Theater
Mark’s performance consists of an amazing combination of
comedy and object manipulation. He uses prop such as yo-yos,
tops and juggling equipment, as well as nontraditional props like
a mousetrap (and even a wombat trap!), in a fun and witty style
for a show that can be enjoyed by anyone.
