Spirelli Tutorial
Spirelli Tutorial August/September 2011 This technique is so easy with a little fiber and a scallop. This works with any scallop punch or die cut. Supplies: - Stamp smaller than scallop - Ink - Coloring Tools - Scallop Punch or Die Cut - Neutral Cardstock - Scotch Tape - Twine or Fiber Step One: Stamp the image on the cardstock. © 2002-2011www.patstamps.com Step Two: Color as desired. Step Three: Step Four: Step Five: Step Six: Turn to the front. Count 5 scallops (see note below about spacing) and wrap the twine around the valley back toward the start. Make sure to hold the twine tight. Wrap the twine from the back to the valley adjacent to the starting scallop, and wrap on the front to the scallop valley directly next to the first. Wrap around to the bottom again. Step Seven: Step Eight: Die cut or punch the cardstock with the image in the center of the scallop. Wrap the twine from the back to the valley adjacent to the third valley. Wrap on the front to the next top valley. There will always be 5 scallops between the top and bottom wrappings. © 2002-2011 www.patstamps.com Flip the cardstock over. Align the twine with one of the scallop’s “valleys” (the space between the scallops). Adhere a short tail of twine to the piece using the tape. Use tape on the back to secure the twine as you work to make sure the twine is kept taut. Step Nine: Continue wrapping the front all the way around the piece until you reach the beginning scallop. Step Ten: Use tape to secure the last twine piece securely and trim off. Note about spacing: You can change how wide or how thin the spirelli is by changing the distance between scallops, For a wider spirelli, allow for more scallops between wrapped valleys; for a thinner spirelli, use less scallops between the wraps. Step Eleven: Use as desired. © 2002-2011 www.patstamps.com Finished Card Artwork: Pat Huntoon Stamps: Alluring Impressions Finished Card Finished Card Finished Card Finished Card Artwork: Lisa Somerville Stamps: Stampers Anonymous Artwork: Pat Huntoon Stamps: Inky Antics, VAP © 2002-2011 www.patstamps.com Artwork: Lisa Somerville Stamps: Kitchen Sink Stamps Artwork: Ann Clack Stamps: Susana’s Custom Art and Card Design, Hero Arts Finished Card Finished Card Finished Card Finished Card Artwork: Ann Clack Stamps: Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, Art Impressions Artwork: Vicki Romaine Stamps: Stampendous © 2002-2011 www.patstamps.com Artwork: Nancy Dawson Stamps: Stampin’ Up! Chalked Relief Tutorial
This pretty technique originated with Polly from Polly’s Pals. For best results, use an opaque embossing paste; I like the pearlized version, but gloss or matte work well, too.
