Chalked Relief Tutorial
Chalked Relief Tutorial October/November 2010 This pretty technique originated with Polly from Polly’s Pals. For best results, use an opaque embossing paste; I like the pearlized version, but gloss or matte work well, too. Supplies: - Detailed Brass Stencil - Chalks/Pastels - Opaque/Pearlized or Glossy White Embossing Paste - White Cardstock. - Palette Knife or other Knife - Stiff Brush - Removable Tape Step One: Use the removable tape to attach the brass stencil to the cardstock. © 2002-2011www.patstamps.com Step Two: Use the kinfe to spread the embossing paste over the stencil. Fill in all areas and use the knife to smooth the top, similar to frosting a cake. Step Three: Step Four: Step Five: Step Six: Step Six Continued Step Seven: Gently remove the tape and lift the stencil off of the paper. Wash the stencil in warm water immediately. Use the stiff brush to pick up pastel colors. © 2002-2011 www.patstamps.com Allow the paste to dry fully before proceeding. Brush, rub and dab the color onto and between the unembossed areas in and immediately around the image. Use several colors for best results. If the chalk goes too far beyond the image, use an eraser to remove the excess color. Finished Card Artwork: Pat Huntoon Stencil: Dreamweaver Step Eight: Mat and embellish as desired.
