On behalf of UM Supermileage an all its members, we thank you for your interest in our project team. We invite you to contribute your expertise and resources to extend the success of our members and Supermileage all together. 2013 - 2014 TEAM University of Michigan Supermileage 2603 Draper Drive Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109-2101 umsm.engin.umich.edu [email protected] umsm.engin.umich.edu Contact Us 11 UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN SUPERMILEAGE SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE 2013-2014 2013 - 2014 TEAM TABLE OF CONTENTS .......................... 3 University of Michigan Team ................. Our goal is to give young engineering students the opportunity to design the most efficient vehicle in North America, and we are especially motivated by the challenge of developing technology that has global importance in today’s world. In our third year, the team began designing, prototyping, and has recently began fabricating the competition vehicle since the summer of 2013. Aiming high, the current design target is a vehicle with a fuel economy of 3,300 miles per gallon. The team will work through the 2013-2014 year to fabricate components and perform validation testing on our design work. umsm.engin.umich.edu The Supermileage Goal 3 University of Michigan Team The team was founded in the fall of 2010, and since then has grown to include roughly 30 active members. We are entirely student-run and are comprised of undergraduate and graduate members from a wide range of engineering disciplines. The team designs and builds virtually every system of the vehicle, as well as handling logistics, project management, and financial planning. The Supermileage project offers a richly complex and interdisciplinary engineering experience, and is a valuable organizational and technical counterpart to the rigorous training that Michigan engineers receive in their academic studies. Our members have a unique opportunity to work through a real-time project cycle to see our vehicle through from conception to completion, and as a startup team, our challenge is to expose them to the corporate world in a rewarding and meaningful experience. umsm.engin.umich.edu University University of of Michigan Michigan Team Team 4 Driver Interface and Integration SubTeam Lead: John Young To design and build the various systems the driver will interact with, including the steering as well as many safety and regulation components Race Strategy SubTeam Lead: John Rockwell Our aim is to test and optimize the vehicle performance through operations and systems engineering. umsm.engin.umich.edu Driver Interface and Integration / Race Strategy 5 Body Team SubTeam Lead: Ted Lee Body team builds a aerodynamic fiberglass body of the car by manufacturing a male mold and testing its effectiveness. Engine Team SubTeam Lead: Andy Dun Aims to create an efficient and reliable powertrain for the Supermileage vehicle while monitoring the weight and other aspects. umsm.engin.umich.edu Body Team / Engine Team 6 Budget and Objectives Our assessment of our goals and timeline places our financial need at roughly $20,000 for our third vehicle. The majority of this will go towards materials and fabrication of our competition vehicle for the 2013-2014 season. A significant proportion of this need we hope to gain via in-kind donations. We are also happy to discuss other ways you may offer your support, such as technical guidance in your areas of expertise. 2013-2014 Budget Body Team $8,500.00 Engine Team $4,000.00 DII Team $1,000.00 Race Strategy $ 500.00 Miscellaneous $6,000.00 Total Cost $20,000.00 Note: A detailed budget can be sent out if requested. We are very flexible in the way we can work with sponsors and are seeking partnerships that will be beneficial to everyone involved. umsm.engin.umich.edu Budget and Objectives 7 Sponsorship Goals As a non-profit student organization, our project depends entirely upon external support and donations. In order to bridge the gap between ideas and their realization, we need the support of firms and individuals who appreciate the value of hands-on technical experience as an essential part of an engineering education. We also enjoy forming personal relationships with sponsors and seek to share in mutually-beneficial professional partnerships. Sponsor Benefits The benefits to our sponsors come in several forms. We will happily display corporate logos prominently on the vehicle, website, newsletter and other media, which as the project unveils will gain increasing exposure. Whether you are looking for a supplier, a customer, or new-hires, this project is a unique networking opportunity. You also gain access to some of the most driven and creative members of Michigan’s engineering community with access to our team’s resume book. In the past we have also enjoyed the opportunity to host our sponsors as they visit campus for hiring and informative events, and lending them a stronger presence on campus. Our engineers are intrinsically motivated, passionate, and resourceful individuals and we anticipate that many will be employed by our top sponsors upon graduation. umsm.engin.umich.edu Sponsorship Goals/Sponsor Benefits 8 Sponsorship Packages The following packages are available for the 20132014 year.
