Wickenburg Quilt Show is on January 13 & 14th at the Wickenburg
Community Center, sponsored by the Vulture Peak Patchers. The show
is from 10am -4pm each day. Over 150 quilts and other items will be
on display from local quilters. A donation of $3 for admission, children
are admitted free. The show will also have a traveling exhibit from the
nationally acclaimed Hoffman Challenge. This event also will have
vendors, and a Quilter’s Attic where items new and old can be purchased.
A quilt appraiser will also be available. Chaparral Ice Cream has live
music Friday and Saturday from 1 to 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday 12 to 3:00

The 2nd Annual Youth Shooting event will be hosted on Saturday, Jan.

PHI Cares is a membership program designed to relive the financial
burden of patients who are in need of Air Medical transportation in over
17 states. The membership allows AirEvac/PHI to accept only medical
insurance as payment in full and there is no balance bill to the patient.
The membership yearly fee of $50 (or $40 for a group of 10 or more)
covers everyone in a single household with the same benefits. You may

Tourism News:
Three weeks ago the Arizona Office of Tourism office contacted us for
Emily Kaufman, The Travel Mom, (http://www.thetravelmom.com/ Her
segment on Good Morning Arizona discussed holiday travel plans and
easy road trips from the Phoenix area. We provided information about
our community, and video from Rancho de los Caballeros, along with
New Year’s Eve activities planned Out Wickenburg Way. She will
also do another segment after the holidays about places to visit if your
New Year’s resolution is to include more family travel in the New Year.
Last week we hosted Roger Naylor, writer for The Arizona Republic
who stayed over with host Rancho de los Caballeros, and spent time
to meet with local attraction representatives while here, and took trips
with BC Jeep Tours, Lazy D Rockin P Surrey with Dale Mee. Roger is
a good friend of Wickenburg, he’s written about local chamber member
restaurants & attractions. AAA Highroads Magazine this month has
information about our 64th Annual Gold Rush Days in February.
Additionally we have ad placement in PHOENIX MAGAZINE, TRUE
WEST MAGAZINE, SUNSET, and 2012 CITY GUIDE.
Promoting Wickenburg Chamber staff and hospitality representatives will be Exhibiting in the
upcoming 2012 Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show at the Long Beach
Convention Center, on January 14-15! The Wickenburg Tourism Booth will
provide information about our community and distribute the Wickenburg
Visitor’s Guide and Calendar of Events. Our laptop will feature easy access
to the Chamber’s websites and face book pages.
And, you may recall Stefan Endl, a German journalist who attended the
Best of the West press trip in November 2008 through the Arizona Office of
Tourism. Stefan has published an online article on a German travel website,
www.pnp-reise.de. The website has 1,108,003 visitors per month and the
advertising equivalency value is $7,891. This article discusses a cowboy’s
life, the Grand Canyon and some of the best sites of Arizona.
USPS has announced rate increases for 2012 that will raise the cost of a Forever
Stamp one penny to 45 cents, the first increase in First Class postage in more than
two years. The Postal Service will also raise the cost of a post card 3 cents to 32
cents, raise the cost of letters to Canada or Mexico by 5 cents to 85 cents and raise
the cost of letters to other international destinations by 7 cents to $1.05. The new
prices go into effect Jan. 22nd.

Wickenburg area residents can download a free card, search drug pricing,
and locate participating pharmacies at www.wickenburgchamber.com
Click on to benefits and scroll down to the RX Card Information and print
out.
Carry this card with you at all times and encourage others to use it as well.
Pick up as many cards as you need.
The free prescription card can provide savings of up to 75% on prescription
drugs and is accepted at over 50,000 pharmacies across the country.
The Wickenburg RX Card was launched two years ago to help uninsured
and underinsured residents afford their prescription medications. However,
the program can also be used by people who have health insurance
coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health
savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans.
Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program
for non-formulary or non-covered drugs. The card can also be used for
your pet medication if purchased through the pharmacy. The Wickenburg
RX Card has no restrictions to membership, no income or age limitations,
and residents are not required to fill out an application or provide personal
information to obtain a free card. It is pre-activated and does not expire.
It can be used by multiple members of a household.

Recognized- Arizona Centennial Event
The Arizona Centennial Commission recently notified chamber staff on the selection of our
signature heritage event as a recognized special event by them. It’s a perfect way to begin the New
Year! Celebrating the ranching & mining heritage of Arizona’s 4th oldest town, brings thousands
of people to the event each year. Activities sponsored by the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce
& pard’ners includes a two day NSPRA Rodeo, 4th largest parade in AZ on Saturday, three day
arts/crafts faire, family fun carnival, western barbeque, gold panning, free stage entertainment,
western dance, old fashioned melodrama nightly and much more. On sale now are Rodeo, Dance,
and Discount Carnival Tickets. Applications for the parade and more information on the activities
are available online and by calling the chamber office, (928) 684-5479.
