Anointing of the Sick: Please contact the parish office at any time and
make arrangements with one of our Priests. In cases of illness, please
notify us if you or a family member would like to receive Holy
Communion at home, hospital or nursing home to make arrangements.
Marriage: Please contact our parish office at least 6 months prior to
your scheduled wedding date and to schedule a meeting with one of our
priests. Religious Education: Sacramental preparation for First
Communion and Confirmation is offered for public school students in
grades 1 through 10. All children should be registered before attending

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): A process of
Liturgical and Spiritual formation for those seeking to receive the

First Reading: Isaiah 60:1-6
Isaiah rejoices over the light and glory that will shine upon
Jerusalem. He describes how the wealth of nations will be
brought to Jerusalem, and travelers will arrive bearing gifts
and praising God.
My
Pastors Corner:
dear parishioners, friends, family, and supporters of
Saint Joseph Parish, I want to wish all of you a very
blessed, happy and safe 2016. We have many exciting
projects planned for the upcoming year and I hope and
pray that I have your support in our great endeavors.
Second Reading: Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6
Paul explains to the Ephesians that the Gentiles are now coheirs with the Jews. Through Jesus, they became members of
the same body. Therefore, they would receive everything God
had promised the Jewish converts if they followed Christ's
teachings.
Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12
Astrologers from the east came looking for the newborn king
of the Jews, which greatly disturbed King Herod. Herod
wanted to kill Jesus, and asked the astrologers to return and
tell him where Jesus was. The astrologers found Jesus and
brought him gifts, but received a message in a dream telling
them not to return to Herod.

him homage, all
nations shall serve
him. For he shall
rescue the poor man
when he cries out, and
the afflicted when he
has no one to help
him. He shall have
pity for the lowly and
the poor; the lives of
the poor he shall save.”
We are so familiar with the persons of the scripture today, a
devious king, star-gazing pilgrims, a baby and His mother.
We know the gifts, the beckoning star, and the informative
dream. We proclaim Jesus as the savior of all humankind.
As
we reflect upon the words of the psalm we discover the
mission of the Christ and hear the echo of the mission of Pope
Francis. In his teaching in the Joy of the Gospel and in
proclaiming the jubilee year of mercy, we are caught up with
a special concern for those in great need. As the Holy Father
and psalmist speak of the poor, we not only consider the
economically downtrodden, but those who are poor because
they lack hope and direction, who are not able to find a place
for Christ in their lives.
As
the magi went seeking and discovered the One they
sought, may we begin this new year with a concern for those
in need and be the source of strength and support for them.

2ème lecture: Ep 3, 2-3a.5-6
Frères, vous avez appris, je pense,
en quoi consiste la grâce que Dieu m’a donnée pour
vous :par révélation, il m’a fait connaître le mystère.
Evangile: Mt 2, 1-12
Jésus était né à Bethléem en Judée, au temps du roi
Hérode le Grand. Or, voici que des mages venus
d’Orient arrivèrent à Jérusalem et demandèrent...
Le Fils de Dieu est Parole
nos crèches traditionnelles, les mages venus
d’Orient sont représentés par trois personnages, d’âge et
de culture différents. À part leur allure quelque peu
exotique, ces trois santons ont un trait commun : ils
portent des coffrets. De l’or, de l’encens, de la myrrhe…
Depuis longtemps, nous savons que ce passage de
l’Écriture est hautement symbolique et que nous
sommes face à une épiphanie, c’est-à-dire à une
révélation de Dieu.
Dans
Révélation.
Il est dans la nature même de Dieu de se
communiquer. Toute la Bible témoigne de la relation
que Dieu entretient avec son peuple et de la façon dont il
cherche, depuis la création du monde, à se dire. C’est
sans doute le trait le plus caractéristique de Dieu, ce qui
le rend aussi singulier et unique : il parle. Son Fils est sa
Parole, le Verbe, vrai homme et vrai Dieu. Dieu nous
rejoint dans notre vie. Il naît discrètement un jour, à
Bethléem, petit bébé, du ventre d’une femme. De cette
façon – et au matin de Pâques – Dieu se dit totalement et
une fois pour toutes. En son Esprit, il est vivant et ne
cesse de venir à notre rencontre. Seulement, si des
mages ne nous le montrent pas, il peut passer inaperçu.
Ces chercheurs de vérité, de chemin et de vie
contemporains sont parfois venus de très loin avec leurs
coffrets. Car il faut un geste d’offrande pour révéler
Dieu. Offrande. La tradition a interprété l’identité du
Fils de Dieu dans l’or, l’encens et la myrrhe offerts par
les mages. Jésus lui-même a fait de sa vie une offrande à
son Père. Sommes-nous prêts à faire de toutes nos
recherches le lieu de notre offrande à Dieu ?

Primera Lectura: Isaías 60:1-6
Isaías se regocija por la luz y la gloria que brillarán sobre
Jerusalén. Describe cómo la riqueza de las naciones será
llevada a Jerusalén, y viajeros llegarán trayendo regalos y
alabando a Dios.
Segunda Lectura: Efesios 3:2-3a, 5-6
Pablo explica a los efesios que los gentiles son
coherederos con los judíos. A través de Jesús se
convirtieron miembros del mismo cuerpo. Por eso ellos
recibirán todo lo que Dios ha prometido a los judíos que
se han convertido y que han seguido las enseñanzas de
Jesús.
Evangelio: San Mateo 2:1-12
Astrólogos del este viajaron para buscar al recién nacido
rey de los judíos. Esto preocupó mucho al Rey Herodes.
Herodes quería matar a Jesús, y les pidió a los atrólogos
regresar y decirle en dónde estaba Jesús. Los astrólogos
encontraron a Jesús y le trajeron regalos, pero recibieron
un mensaje en forma de un sueño, en donde se les
indicaba no regresar a ver a Herodes.
La figura católica de los Reyes Magos tiene su origen en los
relatos del nacimiento de Jesús, algunos, fueron integrados
de los evangelios canónicos que hoy conforman el Nuevo
testamento de la Biblia. Concretamente el Evangelio de
Mateo es la única fuente bíblica que menciona a unos magos
(aunque no especifica los nombres, el número ni el título de
reyes) quienes, tras seguir una supuestaestrella, buscan al
«rey de los judíos que ha nacido» en Jerusalén, guiándoles
dicha estrella hasta Jesús nacido en Belén, y a quien ofrecen
ofrendas de oro, incienso y mirra.
Las
tradiciones antiguas que no fueron recogidas en
la Biblia ―como por ejemplo el llamadoEvangelio del
Pseudo Tomás (o Evangelios de la infancia (de Tomás)) del
siglo II― son sin embargo más ricas en detalles. En ese
mismo evangelio apócrifo se dice que tenían algún vínculo
familiar, y también que llegaron con tres legiones de
soldados: una de Persia, otra de Babilonia y otra de Asia.
“Que todos los reyes le rindan homenaje y lo sirvan todas
las naciones. Porque él librará al pobre que suplica y al
humilde que está desamparado. Tendrá compasión del
débil y del pobre, salvará la vida de los indigentes.”
Estamos
muy familiarizados con las personas de las
escrituras hoy, el taimado rey, los peregrinos que observan
el firmamento, un bebé y su madre. Conocemos los
regalos, la estrella que guía, el sueño que informa.
Proclamamos a Jesús como el salvador de la humanidad.
A medida que refleccionamos sobre las palabras del salmo
descubrimos la misión de Cristo y escuchamos el eco de la
misión del Papa Francisco. En sus enseñanzas en el Gozo
del Evangelio y al proclamar este año el Jubileo de la
Caridad, nos encontramos con una preocupación grande
por aquellos en gran necesidad. Así como el Santo Padre y
el salmista hablan de los pobres, nosotros no sólo
consideramos a los que están económicamente devastados,
sino a los pobres que carecen de esperanza y dirección,
quienes no son capaces de encontrar un lugar para Cristo
en sus vidas.
Así
como los magos fueron a la búsqueda y
descubrimiento de Aquel a quienes buscaban, que
empecemos nosotros este Nuevo año preocupándonos por
quienes tienen necesidad y que seamos una fuente de
fortaleza y podamos apoyarlos.
