Hi all, please see Grahame’s match report below for this week:
Finally we had a semi warm night for cricket, playing against the arch rival Strathmore
away. With Callum as Captain, Oak Park was sent into bat first. Zac hit some big sixes
and Kalindu played some delicate shots to the boundary. Nathan showed prospects as a
future opening batsman with some excellent forward blocking. The highlight of the night
was in the field, diving saves from James in the last few overs and Lachlan putting his
body on the line in a fantastic effort to catch a sizzling ball and save a certain four. From
a coach’s perspective the most pleasing aspect of the night was a response from one of
our players when I congratulated him on saving a four in the field his comment to me
was "I did not save four runs, the team did!" To me that's! Oak Park Cricket! Well done
on to all players on an all round team effort.

Santa is coming to Cricket!
Don’t forget that after the game this Friday night the last week of Milo before Christmas
and the school holidays, we will be having a very special visitor to Milo & Under 10s
Cricket, a man with a big white beard and a red suit. For all of our Under 10 players he
will have a small gift, any siblings who attend on the night will not be catered for in
terms of a gift, but feel free to bring something of a very low dollar value (under $2.00
preferably) for Santa to give to the siblings.
We will also have a special Christmas feast - again only provided for our Under 10
players. If you have siblings who would like to eat dinner the cost will be $5. Please
email me ASAP if you have siblings who will be attending and eating our Christmas feast.

2 Day Report
Round 8 Flemington Colts v Oak Park
After winning the toss and electing to field first, we took to the field on a lovely
day for cricket. After working hard, we struck in quick succession just before tea to have
them 7/98 at the end of the session. We came out after a bite to eat and wrapped up
the innings, bowling them all out for 129. Our best bowlers were J McQueen (4/37 off
22 overs straight!), C Di Stefano (2/14) and B Storer (2/47).
Having to bat 22 overs to see out the day, things didn’t start well for us and we
soon found ourselves 2/22. However, consolidation from the Storer brothers saw us
reach 2/49 at stumps. We came back the following week, needing only 81 to win the
game. Partnerships from key players saw us get the much-needed victory! Storer
instructed his men to bat on and eventually declared at 9/193 – 64 runs in front. Top run
scorers were B Storer (41), J McQueen (37) and R Rana (34).
With 64 runs on the board, we decided we would attempt an outright victory.
We were looking a big chance at succeeding as at one stage we had them 7/46, however
we weren’t able to close out the innings and the home side managed to bat out the
game. Best bowlers were B Storer (3/32), M Marszal (2/34) and J McQueen (1/4).
Special mentions to catches from T Marszal and C Storer – absolute rippers!
Although disappointing to not get the outright victory from the position we were
in, the victory itself should be a massive boost to our confidence and show everyone in
our team and the league that we can compete in this grade! Let’s make it 2 on the trot!
Man of match: Ben Storer

1 Day Report
There is a saying within this team that “we only come to play after Christmas”...
happy to say that this now no longer applies. with 4 out of 6 wins to date, and playing
some sensational cricket
With Past Players having a function on Saturday, the boys had an instant support
crew and with the new scoreboard up and running, it was a completely different
atmosphere to what they are used to!!!
The boys lost the toss and were put into bat. With their names shining brightly
on the scoreboard above, out came Jacky and Steve Smith. The opening pair began
scoring from the first ball and were going along at a steady rate. ht. Score was on 40
before the fall of our first wicket. Smitty’s new bat proved to be money well spent as he
went on to make 45. Sammy top scored with 46, playing some very smart cricket. We
batted all the way through the 34th over and made 185 before the last wicket fell. This
was our best batting achievement for the season to date.
After the tea break, we came out determined to bowl the opposition out. Once
again Sam and Jeff opened the bowling and along with Trev had figures of Sam 2/26, Jeff
2/25 and Trev 2/25, but it was Andy’s turn this week to have fun with the ball. He
finished with 3/22.
Must make mention of Little Macca’s sensational catch, as it was not recognised
on the scoreboard during the game!!!!
Welcome back for the 1st time this season Chris and hope to have the return of
Col and Trent soon!!!!
Great effort boys, keep it up!!
Man of match: Sam Bassi
Next match: St Albans V Oak Park. 1pm start
