WOOD-RIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Summer Reading List 2012
Grade 2
(For students entering grade 2 in September)
Families are expected to read books together in order to assist
the student transitioning into second grade. The book list
provided represents preferred readings at a variety of levels.
Each student will be provided with a Lexile score based on
MAP testing completed throughout the school year. Choices of
books should be based on materials that are at or slightly
above Lexile levels.
All students are expected to have at least two listed books read
and complete one of the listed assignment choices. If you read
a fictional book, complete the Story Cube/Summary. If you
read a nonfictional book, complete My Nonfiction Book
Evaluation.
The assignments are expected to be turned in to your child’s
respective teacher by Friday, September 7, 2012. This
assignment will be collected and be worth a first marking
period quiz grade for each assignment. The efforts of all of
our young students will be celebrated in class upon completion
of the assignment.
Students/families are encouraged to read as many books as
possible during the summer months. In addition, please be
sure to visit www.tumblebooks.com to access the Doyle
