BITS AND PIECES
Dressage in the Wine Country 2013
is coming together
on September 7. Hard to believe this event has been going since 1982
when Joan Rawson came up with the idea to combine horses and wine
in a fundraising event for the SCDS at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds
with roughly 600 people attending. As they say the rest is history. The
event has grown and expanded to become a much anticipated event for
the community. We are expecting 2 to 3000 people to attend this
year. Check out the website, http://www.winecountrydressage.org/
and like us on Facebook.
This year we are looking forward to a larger expanded trade fair , to
include local horse related vendors, with Contact Saddles being one of
the big sponsors. We are stepping outside the box and including more
Bounty of the County, with food & beverage vendors, demonstrations, a
local Farrier contest, flowers, plants and music. The wineries are starting to line up to pour for the tasting. Entertainment is looking very exciting with a Jousting demonstration, complete with knights in shining armor and a four in hand combined driving team. Quadrille, freestyle, grand prix, drill team, side saddle rides will make for a very enjoyable evening of entertainment.

only one from USA. Only 5* judges are permitted to officiate
FEI World Cup Dressage Finals, Grand Prix-level FEI championships, FEI World Equestrian Games and Oympic and

ranking for judges. Congratulations Lilo!
(And do remember that she will be our 2014 “Shelly
Show” Judge.)

Annual Awards Gala a Fabulous Success!
The AWARDS GALA was a fabulous success again this year, with over 60
happy winers and diners....if you missed it this year, don't next time! We
had rare sightings of friends such as Alice Simpson (aka "The Cat Doctor")
of Santa Rosa, who is also a driver and rider par excellence... Hester
Zoutendijk was the fashion hit of the evening in lace jeans, Kathy Carrick
elegant as ever, Tracy Underwood dashing in retro and Sue Reinecke
dressed as a tall lampshade...anyway, you had to be there. The food was
good and the bubbly flowed...see you next year!
