Big Turnout for Annual Banquet
January 11th marked the date
for our Annual Banquet and it was a time
for good company and good food. An
enjoyable hour of socializing took place
for an hour before dinner supplemented
by some delicious hors d’ouevres and
great service from the cash bar. At 7pm
the buffet lines opened and a fine spread
of food was enjoyed, capped off by yummy desserts.
Entertainment was provided by
the local band, “Revelation.” They entertained for an hour or more with an assortment of music from the 1950s,
1960s, 1970s as well as gospel. You
could tell this group really enjoyed what
they were doing! The vocals and instrumental backup were first-rate.
After the entertainment, Robert
Dye introduced the slate of 2014 RVRAACA Officers. You can see a photo of
them below and a list of them with their
responsibilities appears on Page 2 of
this newsletter.
The next time you see one or
more of these fine folks please express
your appreciation for what they do for
our organization. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that takes place,
what with activities, car shows and the
financial responsibilities. Please give
them a big thank you.

THE PRESIDENT’S CORNER
Greetings friends, well here we are at the start
of a new year of club activities. This year is the 40th
year since my family joined the AACA and the Roanoke
Valley Region. I think back at the changes over these
forty years and at how fast time flies when you are having fun. Memories of past activities start to enter my
mind like an old newsreel replayed. Like the overnight
trips down the Blue Ridge Parkway in the 1927 Buick
with the motor stopping every mile or two on the way to
Boone NC, or the picnics we had at our house near
Hales Ford Bridge with various members playing bluegrass music in the yard, or the many excursions to faraway places for meals together. Yes, we we’re having
fun; lots of fun. I hope as we go through this year each
and every one of you will be making memories and having fun with the club.
This year I will be assisting Tim Woodward by
handling the menu at Bellacino's. I hope to work with
them to expand the menu and add new choices. Please
let me know if you are not pleased with the dinners or
have suggestions.
I am sad to announce that our newsletter editor,
Steve Davis will no longer be able to produce the club
newsletter. Steve did a very good job and we thank him
greatly for his contribution. The club will be searching for
a new editor or editors as a group effort.
Also new activities Vice President, Tim Woodward will be searching for volunteers to help with various
projects he is planning. Please consider helping Tim as
he carries out his duties and projects.
We hope to see you Feb. 10th at Bellacino's.

If you haven’t already renewed your membership in the Roanoke Valley Region, you may renew by

include some proof that your national dues have been
renewed such as a copy of your 2014 membership card
or canceled check to the AACA.
Membership in the Roanoke Valley Region is
open to all persons interested in the preservation of antique vehicles. Actual ownership of an antique vehicle is
not required. The only prerequisite for membership is
that you also must join or already be a member of the
national Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA).
Local membership annual dues are as follows:
$10 Single/Joint Regular Membership (new member)
$15 Single/Joint Regular Membership (renewal)
Free Student Membership (ages 16-25)
Free Junior Membership (up through age 15)
FROM THE EDITOR….
As you read in Jerry’s column, this new year
presents healthy challenges for our club. Your hardworking board of directors truly needs volunteers to
step forward this year to assist with activities, the
newsletter and other tasks.
Our new Activities Vice President, Tim Woodward needs individuals from our general membership
to volunteer because he doesn’t have available time
to organize all aspects of the activities by himself.
Tim has a demanding full time job but he is ready to
put his shoulder to the wheel with your help. Perhaps
you can give a few hours this year or a day or two.
That’s all it takes, just a little bit of help from more
members will enable our activities to continue at the
same fine level they have been. Tim is highly organized so those who help him will find that their volunteer time will go smoothly.
As Jerry also said in his column, I will be
stepping down as newsletter editor. For 1-1/2 years I
did everything on the newsletter except collect the
ads and write the President’s Column. It gave me
great pleasure but continuing to do it all myself is no
longer feasible because, like Tim, I have a challenging full time job that requires more hours than most.
Beginning with the newsletter you are reading now
our club will produce a very basic newsletter until other club members can help out. If the newsletter were
divided among 2 or 3 people the process wouldn’t be
a burden for anyone.
Before I took on the newsletter there were
numerous things I volunteered for within our club. I
will continue to be active in the club. Also I can give
some help by occasionally contributing stories and
photos for the newsletter.
I thank each of you for the appreciation you
have shown to me during my time as newsletter editor.
