City Exploration----- Wuhan
*Gude Buddhist Temple:
A historical Buddhist temple built in Hankou in
1877. It has buildings famous for combination of
Asian and European religious architecture styles.

*Yellow Crane Tower
A nation-wide famous tower built in Wuchang. The
tower was first built in 223 A.D during the Three
Kingdoms period, serving as a gathering place for
celebrities and poets (including famous poets Cui
Hao and Li Bai in Tang Dynasty).
* Cruise tour on Yangtze River
Close observation of Yangtze river, the longest
river in Asia, and its beautiful scenery.
*Hubei Provincial Museum
The center for collecting, studying, preserving and
displaying historical and cultural relics in Hubei,
especially famous for its collection of ancient relics
from the tomb of marquis Yi of Zeng.
*Wuhan Han Show Theatre
A place to appreciate Jing-Chu culture, a traditional
culture in Wuhan city.
*Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation
The most important production base for
cold-rolled silicon sheet with the top global
competitiveness, automotive steel for domestic
premium cars, high-performance constructual
steel and high quality long products.
*Hubuxiang
The best-known food street in Wuhan. First built
in Ming Dynasty, it is a place famous for
traditional Chinese architecture and good taste
snacks.
Land of Abundance---Chengdu (1143 kilometers away from Wuhan)
*Research Base of Giant Panda
Founded by the government, it is a place to breed
and study giant pandas, a precious and unique
species in China, as well as other rare and
endangered animals.
*Wuhou Temple
It is dedicated to the memory of famous political
celebrities (Liu Bei, emperor of the Kingdom of
Shu and his Prime Minister Zhuge Liang) in the
Three Kingdoms period. Also famous for
valuable cultural relics.
* Dufu Thatched Cottage
The place Du Fu, one of the most famous poets
in Tang Dynasty, took refuge in Chengdu during
wartime. More than 240 oft-quoted and widely
loved poems were produced in his four-year stay
here.
*Sichuan Opera
The treasure house of Chinese opera. A show
represents Ba-Shu culture, the dominant cultural
trend in Chengdu.
*Dujiangyan Irrigation
An ancient technological wonder of the country
built in 250 BC. Since then, the dam
automatically diverts the Mingjiang River and
channels it into irrigation canals, making Sichuan
“land of abundance”.
The Economic Center-----Shanghai (departure for home)
*Shanghai World Financial Center
An office-based, set-commerce, hotels,
tourism,
conference
facilities
in
an
integrated-type building. It is known as the
tallest building in mainland China, with its 492
meters high in total.
*Pudong New Area
An important financial area in China, and also
a fashion hub. The famous Oriental Pearl TV
Tower is located here.
*Qibao Ancient Town
A silent ancient water town, with a history
spanning over one thousand years. The place is
famous for snacks and ancient buildings.
*Jing 'an Temple
One of the most famous temples in Shanghai
which is located at West Nanjing Road, the
flourishing downtown area of Shanghai. It is a
historical Buddhist temple built in the Three
Kingdoms period
*China Pavilion of the World Expo
Built in 2010 World Exposition, a place
representing both China’s ancient and
contemporary characteristics. Famous for its
main structure “Oriental Crown”, it has a
distinctive roof, made of traditional dougong or
brackets, which date back more than 2,000
years.
*Shanghai Old Street
An old business street that has a combination
of tourist attractions, shops, entertainment and
cultural exhibits. The earliest bank, gold shop,
jeweler's store, wine shop and tea house of
Shanghai were all to be found here.
*Shanghai Museum
A museum of ancient Chinese art. It possesses a
collection of 120,000 precious works of art. Its
rich and high-quality collection of ancient
Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and
calligraphy is specially celebrated in the world.
*Tianzifang
A quiet and peaceful place with the special
architecture of Old Shanghai city. It’s also a good
shopping area with unique goods full of art
beauty.
Application Qualifications
1. Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university as well as
high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college or university.
2. Applicants should bear in mind that some of the activities in this summer program
may be physically challenging and involve intensive interpersonal interaction.
Candidates who will be able to get the most out of the exchange program are those
who have related skills to meet these requirements.

1. Complete the application form;
*For exchange students from our partner institutions, signature by the international
program coordinator or stamp by the Office of International Affairs is required on the
form.
2. Send the PDF version of application forms, passport copy, and a copy of health

Credit Transfer
1. Students will be assessed in the way as follows:
Attendance and performance in classes accounts for 60% and a seminar for 40%.
2. The whole summer program is worth 4 credits at Wuhan University. Students are
required to obtain approval from their academic advisor in their home institution to
transfer credits back to their school.

Accommodation and Other Expenses
- Housing Students will be accommodated in Junyi Dynasty Hotel near the campus.
Each room is facilitated with single beds, mattresses, desk, chairs, TV,
Internet access and private bathroom.

Meals are available in the student canteens at a very reasonable price
(estimated USD40 per week).
- Airfare Students will be expected to cover their own air tickets.
Insurance Students are responsible for their own health insurance to cover their
travel and stay in China.
