Specialized electrode
High accuracy
Fast response
Automatic temperature compensation
The HI 99121 kit has been designed to address the question of correct and rapid
measurement of pH directly in soil. Every item in this kit has been made to facilitate
measurements in the field without compromising accuracy. With HI 99121 you can test
the pH of soil directly or after preparation of a diluted sample. In order to measure the
pH directly, the kit includes a plastic auger to perforate the ground.
The HI 1292D pH electrode has been designed for direct soil measurement. It has a
conic, rugged tip and can be directly inserted in moist or soft soil. The electrode incorporates a temperature sensor right near the tip to enable it to measure and compensate for the temperature quickly.
For higher degrees of accuracy, or for stony ground where the electrode may be damaged, use the specially made HI 7051M soil preparation solution. This solution is included in the package to help you measure pH more precisely by diluting a sample of the
soil in it.
The dual-level LCD shows the pH value from -2 to 16 with 0.01 resolution. It also displays
the temperature on the secondary level at the same time. With a menu-driven custom
microprocessor, the user is helped with clear prompts during operation and calibration.

Clean Electrode
Each time pH calibration is performed, the meter internally compares the new calibration with the one previously stored. When this
comparison indicates a significant difference, the clean message
blinks on the LCD to advise the user that the pH electrode may
need to be cleaned and another calibration will need to be performed.
Expired Calibration
The instrument is provided with a real time clock (RTC) in order to
monitor the time elapsed since the last pH calibration. The RTC is
reset every time the meter detects a calibration time-out. The CAL

Fast Response
Automatic Temperature Compensation
The HI 9025C measures pH, temperature and ion concentration and ORP in the mV
range all in a rugged, waterproof casing. The Auto-Instruction feature guides the user
step-by-step through the calibration process with graphic symbols. Unlike conventional microprocessor pH meters that offer only the standard pH buffer solutions of 4.01,
7.01 and 10.01 for calibration, these meters also allow calibration at the important NBS
(NIST) buffers of 6.86 and 9.18. Because the electrode requires a certain amount of
time to stabilize between buffers, the meter will display the READY symbol only when
the electrode has stabilized. The powerful HI 9025C will allow 1 or 2-point calibration
using any of the 5 memorized buffers.

Measurements in the field can subject instrumentation to the inclemency of weather.
Cold, rain, snow and dust associated with use in the field, can damage a meter, rapidly deteriorating its performance and life. HI 9142 is a rugged, waterproof meter that
solves these common problems of field use.
It is very simple to use: calibration is performed with HI 7040 zero oxygen solution, while
100% calibration is done in air.
There is no need to use chemical solutions or go through time consuming calibration
procedures. The polarographic probe (HI 76407/4) will take measurements accurate to
0.3 ppm in minutes and is supplied with a 4 m (13') cable that allows measurements to
be taken even in even hard to reach places.
For applications that require longer probe cables, the HI 76407/10 and HI 76407/20
probes with a 10 m (33') or 20 m (67') cable are available.

Light Intensity
Plant Light Requirements
Quality of light is very important in the workplace, schools, greenhouses
and public buildings. Too little light (or luminous intensity) affects the
quantity and quality of performance of both people and crops.
HANNA's light meter uses special optic filters to match the spectral sensitivity of the human eye.
Light provides the energy source needed for plants to manufacture food (photosynthesis). The
amount of light is commonly measured in foot-candles (ft-c) or lux. Plants differ greatly in their
light intensity requirements. Indoor plants are often classified by the amount of light necessary for growth:
Luminous intensity is measured and reported in foot-candles (ft-c) or in
lux (lx). Light meters are commonly referred to as lux meters. One lux is
equal to one lumen per square meter and one foot-candle is equal to
one lumen per square foot. To convert measurements use the following
formulae:
•
Low (minimum 1.1 Klx, .8 to 2.1 preferred for
good growth)
•
Medium (minimum 1.1 to 1.6 Klx, 2.1 to
5.4 preferred)
•
High (minimum 1.6 to 10.8 Klx, 5.4 to
10.8 preferred)
•
Very high (minimum 10.8 Klx, 10.8+ preferred)
foot-candle = lux x 0.0929
lux = foot-candle x 10.764
HANNA's light measuring sensor is a photo diode that converts incident
light into an electronic signal that is read and displayed on the meters
LCD as Klx which is 1,000 lx. So multiply the reading by 92.9 to get the
measurement in foot candles.
Common Examples of Light Intensities

Sunshine
100 Klx
100,000 lx

About 1.1 Klx for 12 hours per day are necessary
simply to maintain plant quality for one year
and at least 2.1 Klx for 12 hours per day are necessary for foliage plants to manifest any benefit
from fertilization.
While lack of sufficient light results in poor plant growth,
too much light can also be harmful. Shade plants cannot tolerate
excessively high light levels. When a plant receives too much direct light,
the leaves bleach or scald, sometimes dying. This often happens after
moving a plant outdoors in direct light. Any changes in light intensity should
be gradual.

Chemical Test Kits
HI 83900
Suction Lysimeter
• Perfect companion to the HI 83215
• Monitor soil composition right at the roots
• Easy to use
Available in 3 Lengths
The HI 83900 suction lysimeter is built with a porous ceramic cap
connected to a transparent tube for soil solution extraction. A
rubber capillary is inserted in the tube passing through a rubber
cap and reaching the ceramic tip.
The HI 83900 series lysimeter is an ideal tool for collecting soil
solution samples and then perform quantitative chemical analysis. In this way the operator can easily monitor the level of nutrients, such as ammonia, nitrate, phosphorous and potassium,
sulphate, calcium, magnesium.
HI 83900-30
30 cm (0.98’)
HI 83900-60
60 cm (1.97’)
The ceramic tip of the lysimeter can be used in all types of soil,
and it is made of sinterized material that does not react with nutrient elements. The soil solution, therefore, is not affected by the
chemical composition of the ceramic cap, and the test results
are always precise and reliable.
HI 83900-90
90 cm (2.95’)
1. Rubber cap
2. Soil solution
sampler tube
3. Porous ceramic
tip
4. 30 mL syringe
(pump)
5. Rubber suction
capillary
6. Finger clamp
The HI 83900 allows to extract a solution from the soil by creating a vacuum (negative pressure or suction) inside the sampler
tube, that exceeds the soil water tension. This will establish an
hydraulic gradient for the solution to flow through the porous
ceramic cap and into the lysimeter tube. Typically, a vacuum of
about -60 cb (centibar) should be drawn.
For better monitoring the soil solution composition throughout an
entire growth period of crops, at least two lysimeters should be
installed in the root zone of a representative plant, one at the
upper part and the other in the lower part of the root zone.
For better accuracy and repeatability of results, it is recommended to replicate the above described installation in at least two
more locations.
Use in conjuntion with our our HI 83215 on the opposite page.

HI 83215 Grow Master
Nitrogen, Phosphorus,
Potassium and Ammonia Meter
• Accurate
• 4 parameters in 1 meter
• Three ranges for
each parameter
• Easy to use
• Economical tests
HI 83215 is a practical instrument made to measure
nutrients commonly present in fertilizer-enriched

ammonia, phosphorus, nitrate and potassium in
three distinct ranges of low, medium and high concentrations. This way accuracy is maximized for each
nutrient and for every concentration.
Thanks to the low cost per test and simplicity of
operation, you no longer need to send off your
samples and wait for the results to come back.
Using the HI 83215, you can test the presence and
strength of nutrients right on the spot. This can translate
itself into a substantial savings and improved yield.
HI 83215 has been engineered to run on battery

Plant Nutrition
The three elements that are most needed
by plants are nitrogen (N), phosphorous
(P) and potassium (K). This is the reason
why they are called macronutrients and
should be given to plants.
Nitrogen is indispensable for the plant’s
life and is a key factor in fertilization.
Nitrogen allows the development of the
vegetative activity of the plant, in particular, causes lengthening of trunks and
sprouts and increases the production of
foliage and fruits. An excess of nitrogen
weakens the plants’ structure creating an
unbalanced relationship between the
leaves and the stalks. In addition, the
plant becomes less resistant to diseases.
Phosphorous is an important element
in the composition of DNA and RNA, the
regulators of the energetic exchange
(ATP & ADP), as well as the reserve
substances in seeds and bulbs. It
contributes to the formation of buds,
roots, blooming, and lignification.
A lack of phosphorous results in:
stifling of plant, slow growth, a reduction
of production, smaller fruits and a lower
expansion of the roots.
Even if Potassium is not a constituent of
important compounds, it plays a remarkable role in many physiological activities
like the control of cellular turgor and the
accumulation of carbohydrates. It increases
the size of fruits, their flavor, as well as
yielding a positive effect on the color and
fragrance of flowers. Potassium also
makes plants more resistant to disease.

HI 9565
Thermo-Hygrometer with Dew Point Display
and Calibration Data-Logging RH Probe
• Store calibration data in probe for meter transfer
• Backlit LCD
• Displays temperature in °C and °F
HI 9565 portable thermo-hygrometer is designed to provide excellent performance in
harsh environments and poorly lit areas.
The HI 70602 RH probe’s internal microchip can store calibration data. When the probe
is connected to another hygrometer, the microchip transfers the stored calibration data
and there is no need to recalibrate the instrument.
The HI 9565 also features auto-off after 20 minutes of inactivity, temperature readings in
Celcius and Fahrenheit, and on-line help to indicate anomalies and direct procedures.
In addition to RH and temperature the HI 9565 will display the dew point with the press
of a button. The dew point indicates, at a certain temperature, the presence of water
vapor in the air. With this feature HI 9565 permits useful and rapid environmental monitoring where a controlled microclimate is necessary such as in greenhouses.

Temperature Dataloggers with
Internal and External Sensors
•

IP 67 waterproof casing
1 or 2 channels
1 second to 24 hour logging interval
Programmable high and low alarms
The HI 141 series is a family of temperature data loggers with
either one or two channels, internal or external temperature sensors, and an optional LCD. External temperature sensor models
feature one or two stainless steel sensors on a 1 meter (3.3') cable
for direct insertion. HI 141 can store up to 16,000 temperature
samples in a protected, non-volatile EEPROM memory.
The logging interval can be set from once per second, up to every
24 hours, and logging delay start can be set anywhere up to 199
hours. The MIN or MAX temperature between logging intervals
can also be stored. All of your collected data is tamper-proof and
stored into serial numbered lots.
The user interacts with the logger, setting data acquisition parameters or downloading logged data, through an RS232 serial port
on a Windows® PC. The HI 141000 Windows® compatible software supports communication between the logger and the PC
through the HI 141001 infrared transmitter. The housing is waterproof and can include a convenient hanging loop (simply add an
"H" to the end of the code). A long-life AA lithium battery provides
power. For a typical 1 minute logging interval, your battery will last
about 4 years.
Note: Models with longer cable for external sensor are available
upon request.

Instrumentation used in the field or industry is subjected to environmental extremes.
Due to this problem, HANNA instruments® has developed the HI 9063 to satisfy all of
your heavy-duty application needs.
This upgraded version of HI 9063 benefits from HANNA instruments®’ extensive experience
in producing instruments that surpass your requirements. The measurement ceiling has
been raised, auto-ranging added and accuracy enhanced.
Because it is often necessary to know the highest and lowest temperatures measured
during a certain process, HANNA instruments® has incorporated a dual-level LCD that
shows the current, minimum and maximum achieved temperatures.
Temperature readings are linearized for increased accuracy and resolution is automatically
switched from 0.1° to 1° at 200°C (400°F) and above.

HI 504
pH/ORP Controller with TeleControl™ and Sensor Check™
Digital Transmitter Input
Many industrial applications require distances
from the regulation system to the probe
greater than the 15 meters provided by
industrial probes. For these situations, the
use of a transmitter is necessary.
All HI 504 models are supplied with a digital
transmitter input. Compared to a traditional
analog transmitter, which has a maximum
transmission length of 300 meters, our new
digital transmitter, HI 504910 permits the
connection with the controller at distances
up to 1.2 km. The data transmitted can be
pH, mV and temperature.
This digital transmitter is compatible with
the Sensor Check™ function and
therefore guarantees excellent precision
with continuous probe inspection.
GSM Cellular Module
The optimization of an industrial process
plant means the reduction of costly
unscheduled shutdown time. With this in
mind, HANNA instruments® has developed
the HI 504900 GSM cellular module*
(optional). The HI 504900 is used for sending SMS alarm messages* and also
requests live updates on actual process
conditions from authorized personnel.
The GMS cellular module can memorize
one or two mobile phone numbers, where
alarm messages can be sent whenever a
malfunction is revealed. The SMS message
immediately reports the nature of the alarm.
Some causes include: Damaged pH probe,
Damaged temperature probe or High
setpoint exceeded.

HI 504 introduces an innovation in the concept of pH and ORP control, that enhances the entire line of
process controllers engineered by HANNA instruments®. Over 25 years of experience in the production of
industrial controllers have enabled us to develop this series of high performance instruments with our new telecontrol technology. This technology supplies the means to control, from whatever distance and in real time,
one or more installations, allowing the user to optimize operations such as maintenance cycles. With two-way
communication supplied by the RS485 output and Windows® compatible software, users can control the
complete regulation process from the PC or through SMS via cellular phone.
Measurement reliability is guaranteed by many self-diagnostic and troubleshooting functions, such as our
innovative Sensor Check™ feature which is the result of advanced research and application know-how.
The universal BNC connector allows the use of any type of industrial probe chosen for a specific application,
but at the same time renders probe replacement a simple and time saving operation.
The HI 504 family offers a wide range of models, designed to fit your individual needs, and is able to satisfy
whatever application of monitoring and regulation you require.

Receive electrode status & diagnostic messages
on the LCD display or via your mobile phone! *
Sensor CheckTM pH/ORP
As part of the powerful self-diagnostic functions of this instrument series, the Sensor Check™ system provides
continuous inspection of probe status. The test is not limited to a simple signal that indicates an error in
progress, but it reports the nature of the breakdown with a specific error code. With the use of the HI 504900
GSM module, errors or alarms can be sent directly to the operator's mobile phone as an SMS message.
Broken electrode
Dirty electrode
Electrode not immersed
Here are the types of breakdowns shown by sensor
check:
> pH electrode broken
> Reference electrode dirty
> Reference electrode or matching pin not immersed
> Electrode junction dirty or clogged
> Short-circuit between cables of pH and reference
electrodes
> Signal problems from the cable or connector due
to humid or dirty environments
The internal circuit of the instrument executes two independent tests, one for the probe and one for the reference
chamber, measuring the respective impedance values every 30 seconds. These tests last for a very short period
to avoid electrolysis and polarization, which can be caused by a prolonged exposure to an electric current.

Direct Wire Connection or TeleControl through an RS485 Port
The RS485 output is a versatile interface
that can be used for connecting the HI 504
controller to many other devices. The
simplest configuration is a direct wire
connection to a PC (with distances up to
1.2 km), or it is possible to use either a
traditional or GSM modem.
The remote control can be managed with
the HI 92500 Windows® compatible software. Once connected, the user can interact with the system, view parameters in
real time, download process data relative
to the last 100 events that have occurred
and, if necessary, modify or reconfigure
program settings (setpoints, alarms,
cleaning cycles, stand-by times, etc.).
When a connection is kept active, it is
possible to continuously download and
automatically store the process data in
Excel® format. This data, once saved, can
be easily organized into tables and
graphs, used for creating records and
supervising process progression.
RS485 Network
The RS485 output allows users to create a
network composed up to 32 instruments
using a simple double-wire cable. The
communication speed (up to 19200 bps)
allows the user to establish an RS485 network covering an area of up to 1.2 km
between the two instruments at both
extremities of the network.
The network can be created with HI 504
units or any other HANNA instruments®.

Blackstone Series
• Backlit LCD

•
•
HI 9914 is a wall mounted fertigation controller, designed to meet specific process control requirements in agricultural, horticultural and hydroponics applications. The controller is provided with two measuring channels, one for pH and one for conductivity. The
readings are displayed simultaneously on two independent LCDs with backlight.
The conductivity probe is designed with a built-in temperature sensor which allows the
controller to automatically compensate for the temperature effect. The differential input
and the use of a matching pin prevent grounding problems and thus ensure longer life
to the pH electrode.
The controller includes two regulators for pH and conductivity, that can be adjusted from
the front panel by setting two independent thresholds. The conductivity and pH controls
are time separated and a timed operation mode avoid overdosing of fertilizer or acid.
The controller status is indicated by LED indicators on the front panel. Moreover, the
equipment is provided with a three-level sensor, to control the water level, the alarm
condition and the irrigation sequences. The instrument also features an alarm system,
which is activated when an unusual working condition occurs. A humidity detector can
be used to stop the controller if any leakage is detected.
Designed for all environments
Reliable
High quality material
Ideal for dosing nutrients & acids
Blackstone's positive displacement solenoid driven pumps use a
minimum number of moving parts, therefore reducing the chance
of mechanical failure.
Part wear and oiling associated with motor driven pumps (ballbearings, gear drives and cams) are not present in these pumps.
Blackstone pumps are more accurate than standard pumps with
the positive displacement design ensuring each stroke is identical
to the strokes before and after it, thus keeping the flow rate constant.
A wide range of Blackstone pumps with different dosing capacities
is available for your specific dosing needs. Each pump is supplied
with discharge and suction valves.
HANNA instruments® also produces polyethylene tubing, injection
fittings, ceramic weights and replacement parts.

SPECIFICATIONS
Blackstone pumps have been designed to meet the ever changing needs of industry. To accommodate diverse applications, the
pumps can be easily mounted anywhere in your plant with their
broad, flat base and mounting holes for tank, shelf or floor
mounting (horizontal). The rear of the pump housing also provides mounting holes to facilitate vertical mounting: wall, tank or
machine. With the pump valve assembly and unit controls both
located on the front of the pump, there is never a problem with
installation or flow adjustments.

Pump Casing
Simple Operation
Blackstone pumps are equipped with a single control for pump
output. The external Flow Rate Control (potentiometer) on the
face of the pump allows you to adjust the percentage of flow
from 0 to 100% of the pump's rated capacity. This feature eliminates the need to worry about stroke lengths and power settings.
An LED indicator lights up each time a stroke begins. This allows
the user to assess the stroke rate from a distance.
High Quality Materials
Blackstone pumps have been manufactured with the highest
level of mechanical precision, from materials chosen for their
inherent ability to resist the effects of aggressive chemicals.
When you select a Blackstone pump, you are eliminating the
time consuming effort involved in picking the right material for
your application.

Complete Greenhouse Fertigation Control
HI 10,000 series
Fertigation Systems
HANNA instruments®, the world’s leader in EC and pH control
technology has worked with leading growers to develop
advanced system solutions for crops of any type. The HANNA
Fertigation System provides precise control of pH and fertilizer
injection. Unlike flow driven systems of the past, the HANNA
Fertigation System constantly measures the actual EC and pH
the water, allowing the system to add the precise concentration
of fertilizer directly to the irrigation supply. The HANNA System is
a bypass system
