The Commission starts in the spring planting colorful annuals and maintains the beds through the fall season. To the uninitiated, the historic Village is a nineteenthcentury jewel in Northville’s crown. Seven buildings, ranging from approximately 1831 to the 1890’s, have carefully been moved from various parts of Northville to the scenic park land on Griswold Street; two more have been meticulously re-constructed with the aid of period photographs and plans. The Adopt-A-Bed Program was started in the summer of 2009 with various local organizations and businesses coming on board to help maintain individual flower beds. The Beautification Commission is volunteer based and is a shared service of the City of Northville and Northville Township and looking to the community for additional help. A visit to the Village is a delightful way to explore the past, take a pleasant stroll, and step back in time. It’s located on Griswold, just east of Downtown Northville, between Main Street and Eight Mile Road. The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset; the buildings are open on Sunday afternoons. Location: Time: Contact: If you would like to take part in keeping Northville beautiful by adopting a flower bed please contact Julie Mantay at 248-349-1602. The Commission is looking for members of subdivision associations, scout troops, businesses, church groups, etc. that love to garden and have a little time to devote to Northville. Cady Street Northville, Michigan 48167 www.tippingpointtheatre.com Welcome to Downtown….Perfect Travel THE CEMETERY CLUB A bittersweet comedy about friendship by Ivan Menchell Lucille, Doris, and Ida are Jewish widows and the surviving members of longtime best friends. They get together once a month for tea and a visit to the cemetery where their husbands are buried. Each woman deals with the passing of her husband in her own way. Lucille still fancies herself as a flamboyant swinger, Doris is a traditional matronly widow still devoted to her departed husband, and Ida has happy memories of her husband and their marriage and is in no hurry to move on. How they heal, quarrel, cope with the past, and learn to date again is the hallmark of this bittersweet comedy about life and friendship. “The women in this show have been friends for many years and have a really fun rapport with each other,“ says director, Beth Torrey. “The best part of the production is that it focuses on women in a later stage in life and their unique friendships.” When asked about the challenges of the show Torrey says, ”The script takes place in two locations; a living room and a cemetery. They both have to be equally represented on the stage in a creative way, and I think our great design team has achieved that!” Perfect Travel has heart and our passion is travel.
