LIVE MAGIC EXPO
Saturday March 14, 2015
We love supporting live magic. So starting March 14th, we’re traveling the world to host oneday-conventions.
It’s called the LIVE MAGIC EXPO, and I think you’ll agree, it’s the best parts of a convention,
without the travel.
Brilliant magic creators (Mark Mason, Paul Richards, Brent Braun, Chris Smith, Losander
and more) will be performing their latest creations as well as giving short lectures all day.
Saturday March 14, 2015
10 AM through 4 PM
The Embassy Suites Louisville East
9940 Corporate Campus Drive
Louisville, KY 40223
ONE room.
ONE day.

My Monthly Musings
Jim Harris, President
I recently did a show as a stand-in for one
of our local magicians – he had family issues and
had to back out. When he told his client that “Uncle
Red” could do the show for her, her first question
was “will he show up”. She didn’t ask how much I
charged, if I had won any awards, if I was good with
children, or any other pertinent questions. Just “will
I show up”.
What happened in this lady’s life that made
her so uneasy? I can only guess she had booked an
entertainer in the past, and, you guessed it, he or she
didn’t show.
Last year I did a balloon gig at an outdoor
festival in southern Indiana. This was a Saturday, and
as I walked around the park I saw posters saying:
“The Amazing ______ , Magic Show Friday at 7
PM”. The next time I saw the booking agent, I asked
her how the show went. “He never showed” she said.
Never called, never texted, never sent an email. This
was a fairly well known magician from Nashville
(not Bargatze!), and he never even bothered to call.
How can this be?
There are a few rules in life you should adhere to, and they’re not that hard. One is simply do
what you say you’re going to do. Let people know
you are someone they can trust. Be honest and do
what is right.
Remember – half the job is just showing up.

From the Editor:
“Random Thoughts”
What a great lecture we had
when David Hira came to visit.
David is one professional that you
can see really loves what he does and he wants you to
be a better magician too. His 2 hour lecture was filled
with insight into different venues such as restaurant
magic, kid shows and business venues. He showed us
how using music can enhance a trick by creating a different mood and how allowing the magic to happen in
the spectators hands is what makes real magic.
Brent Braun, with Penguin Magic, told us
about an exciting event that is happening here called
The Live Magic Expo by Penguin magic. See the article at left and it’s only $10 - What? Are you kidding
me? Only $10 for 6 hours of magic? No, Really!!
Another upcoming event Ray Smerlin told us
about is with Richard Darshwood. On Thursday, March
12 at 7:00 pm you can experience Magic Dinner and
Bourbon at Down One Bourbon Bar, 321 West Main
Street.
Derby City Magic continues with magic shows
the last Saturday of every month, at The Laughing
Derby - if you want to perform on this show contact
Darrin Pearl aka Frankie Foolya at 812-288-7226.
Well, looks like we are in for many more
months of good lectures I know it will be hard to top
the David Hira lecture but who knows - the Louisville
Magic Club is “Simply the Best” and we attract the
Best and Brightest in the magic community to come
lecture for us. Michael
