CASA SAN FRANCESCO
Casa San Francesco is a beautifully restored 3 bedroom home, which comfortably sleeps 6 people. It is just a short 5 - 10
minute walk up the hill from the main piazza downtown and offers wonderful views of the roof tops and the valley below. The
magnificent church of San Francesco (where St. Francis of Assisi ministered for several years) is located just down the street.
Our dear friend Ivan, the owner, has completely restored this home by himself over a 10 year period. When he purchased Casa
San Francesco, it was a ruin with the roof caved in and open to the sky. What he did not know how to do, he learned from
reading and researching and what he created as a solo venture is truly astonishing! Ivan is also an incredbile chef, and once
you book a stay at Casa San Francesco, we highly recommend you partake in his in-home cooking classes- it is some of the best
Tuscan food you will ever eat and our guests always say his cooking class is the highlight of their trip. Ivan takes great care in
personally overseeing his guests comfort, he is always available to guests and will greet you upon arrival at Casa San Francesco.
He loves sharing his home and delights in all the wonderful people he gets to meet.
Casa San Francesco consists of three floors of living space and has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms (with showers). Two
bedrooms have queen-sized beds and the third has two twins. Upon entering from the street, you enter a living room with
cosy functional fireplace, and a bar which features wonderful Tuscan olives oil and other gastonomic treats for sale. Ivan
has furnished Casa San Francesco with a beautiful collection of tradional Tuscan furniture and tastefully appointed home
accessories.
In addition, there is a TV, free internet, DVD, stereo and washing machine. The kitchen is complete with modern amenities.
You will love your stay at Casa San Francesco and having Ivan as your host, the two combined will insure you a memorable
experience in Cortona.
CORTONA
Cortona is a 3,000 year old Etruscan hill-town conveniently situated in Tuscany between Florence and Rome. It lays on the
main rail line and also the main Autostrada between Rome and Florence.
Cortona was recently made famous by the book/movie “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Along with incredible physical beauty and
views of the valley and lake Trasimeno below, Cortona offers a array of fine restaurants and shops.The town also boasts two
museums and numerous churches and historical sights. It truly is a magical place to explore!
*Please note: Cortona is an ancient, walled hilltown with many stairs, steep streets and limited driving/parking with no
elevators or handicap accomodations. Please be advised of this if you have mobility issues of any sort.

Stacey Mattraw and Rob Friedman, the former owners of Urbino in Portland, Oregon, www.urbino-pdx.com have been traveling
to Italy for 30 years and have lived between Portland and Cortona for the past 10 years. They have developed an intimate
knowledge of the town and and have established significant friendships and relationships with the Cortona local people.
They have secured the booking rights to these wonderful Cortona homes featured on the Sojourn Ventures website and have
personally developed strong working relationships with these Italian owners. They have inspected all of their featured homes
ensuring a high level of taste and amenities.
Stacey and Rob provide a “concierge service” for their guests to ensure a unique experience not normally available to tourists.
Their famous “Insider Tips to Cortona” is a booklet they have prepared to give you valuable information regarding travel in Italy
and specific information on Cortona, including favorite restaurants, cafes, shops, food stores, etc.
Their Italian colleague Denyse Perathoner of Together in Tuscany, a local Cortona tour company, is their guests contact and and
check in person. She offers a variety of fantastic local tours and activities, the most popular being personalized cooking classes
and wine tours. Further afield, she organizes excellent tours of the major cities, Rome, Florence and Venice.
