How to create Item revision having multiple relations with multiple Dataset?
Steps:
1. Create Item
2. Create 3 dataset
3. Copy each and use paste special/paste... to paste in ItemRevision
4. Relate these three dataset to ItemRevision having relations “Attaches”, “Specification”

5. Observe all these relation are created under the relation column in detail pane
How to change default paste relation?
Steps:

Go to EditOptions
Click on General (Expansion)
Select ItemRevision and observe default paste relation (specification)
Now change it to “Attaches”
Apply and save
Close the option window
Create Item & create dataset under item revision or
Copy dataset from other folder and paste (not paste special/paste..)
Observe the relation created between ItemRevision and Dataset in detail pane under
column relation

10. It will show the “Attaches” instead of specification
Cancel checked out: Delete all those changes done in the object (Item/ItemRevsion/Dataset etc)
or object properties
Steps:
1. Create Item
2. Click on view properties of ItemRevision
3. Click on edit and checkout
4. Change some properties like description
5. Now cancel checkout
6. Observe the changes got deleted and no more present
How to retain the changes even after cancel checkout?
Step:
1. set the preference Tc_checkout_reserve_only=ItemRevision & sequences will not be created
for ItemRevision
2. Repeat step 1 to 6 and observe the changes even after cancel checkout
How to create sequences for Item Revision?
This is used for maintaining History of Revision Modification
Steps:
1. EditOption
2. Search “TCSerquenceIDVisible” Set the value to true
3. Search “TCDefaultKeepLimit”
4. Observe its value by default it is 3 (Means it will keep three sequences of ItemRevision.
5. “TCLimitSequencebyType” preference controls the sequences created by object type
6. Create a Item
7. Observe the ItemRevision
8. You will find sequence ID got created
9. Now perform CICO multiple times and observe it will only keep latest 3 sequences
10. Perform advanced query say “All sequence” by default available in system defined
queries
11. Observe three object of same item ItemRevision with different sequence ID will get
return.
12. Now, if user want to retain specific sequence then use edit make immune command
13. This will ensure sequence say 2 will be not purged on more CICO operation it will be
retain by system
14. Now, remove immunity using editremove immunity
15. Observe next CICO operation it will delete the sequence if sequence limit got exceeded.

16. Now try checkout/revise for old sequence say 2/3 it will show error as it is allowed for
latest sequence only to ensure user will always work on latest data

Relation Browser:
RM is used to traverse and view all the data related to product.
Step:

Create image dataset
Open in relation browser
Observe that it will show the thumbnail image there
Note, CICO history can be viewed in relation browser
Example user can view all the data related to product say in this example what all data being

How to control the master form creation for Item and ItemRevision?
Sometime customer doesn’t want to see this form because they are having their own custom form to
display under Item/ItemRevision.
Step:
1. EditOption
2. Search “"ItemCreation.NoMasterForm"
3. Set the type you want that master form not to be created say user want Item Master not to be
created then set value “Item”
4. Similarly

“ItemCreation.NoRevMasterForm”
5. Create Item and observe the master form is not getting created and even while creating Item it
will jump directly to ItemRevision master form and displaying Item Master form.
How to import/export the preferences?
This is used for taking the backup of preference and also used to edit/load preference in more
number. For editing single preference this is not the recommended way, user has to go and
edit/set the value there though EditOption window

Perform operation like export and observe the xml file created
Change some preference value
Re-import the xml file and observe the same change is displayed there.
Say example change the value for these preference and import the file

How to purge the Dataset?
This command is used for deleting dataset version which user feels are unwanted.

Now to purge unwanted
EditPurge
Note that the dataset version you selected for purge before that all version will be deleted.
Example:
a. Say user has 3 dataset version created
b. Select dataset version 2
c. EditPurge
d. Now observe it will delete dataset version
How to get desired view if it is not loaded by default in RAC:
Steps:
1. Select window from main menu
2. Select the desired view as below
3. User can use drag and drop for moving these view at required location

How to customized Navigation View?
Steps:
1. Click on configure application
2. Click on “Navigation Pane Options”
3. Navigation pane get open
4. User can select whatever all those application want in primary and secondary as shown

How to move the different view?
Steps:
1. Select the view
2. RMB
3. Click “detached” as shown below
4. Now user can move the view wherever he want as shown below
5. Observe the detached is enabled
6. To restore to the original state just click on detached it will get disabled
7. Note: This is applicable all the views
How to use drag and drop to create multiple dataset at a time?
Step:
1. Select the object say ItemRevision
2. Select the files which you want to create dataset for
3. Drag & Drop the same on Item Revision
4. New dataset creation wizard will be presented for selecting dataset type

5. After selection it will give name screen where user can enter name of the dataset
6. Dataset will be created under ItemRevision
How to enable auto login?
Where user want automatic login to Teamcenter where in case he is using the same
user/password for OS account and Teamcenter Account.
Steps:
1. Create a user in Teamcenter with same Id and password as OS account.
2. Check that TC_auto_login is set to TRUE (EditOptions)
3. Browse the directory “..portal\plugins\configuration_2007.1.9”
4. Search for “client_specific.properities” file.
5. Open the client_specific.properities file and add enableAutologin=true
6. Delete your Teamcenter/RAC folder (under user profile) from (say C:\Documents
and Settings\anant\Teamcenter)
7. Now, launch the Teamcenter portal.bat
8. It will not ask for the login and password and will get directly login to
Teamcenter
How to create BOM report?

1. Create a BOM in PSE as below:

2. Create an Item 000317 with initial revision A
3. Paste 000317/A as an Alternate of 000315/A
4. Save and close the PSE Structure
5. In My Navigator go to Tools -> Reports
6. Choose PS - BOM Structure
7. Supply the Item ID, Revision ID and View Type Name
8. Choose 'ps_bom_structure.xsl' as report format
9. In the report it can show the alternate component
How to Review the EPM job?

In My Navigator select the ItemRevision.
In the Impact Analysis pane, select Where Referenced.
Expand the objects until the 'Job'.
RMB to view the properties of this object.
How to Modify the Dataset:
1. Create dataset of Type MSExcelx File--> New-->Dataset
2. Dialog opens.
3. Fill the Mandatory Fields.
4. Select MSExcelx from the left Navigator of the Dialog
5. Verify value is filled in 'Tools' dropdown
6. Click Finish
7. New Dataset is created and is available in My Teamcenter Home/New Stuff folder.
8. Right Click on the Dataset and select NamedRefereces.
9. Click on 'Import' button and browse for any excel sheet ( .xlsx,.xlsm)
10. Click on close.
11. Select the created dataset from the My Teamcenter.
12. Open the 'Viewers' tab in My Teamcenter
13. Dialog opens click on 'Open'
14. Enter some manual entry data. Click on File save of the Excel
15. Double click the excel again, check the data is saved what was entered

Assign the Item and Dataset to a project
Select My Project tab
Go on the item Document and cut the dataset
If you select the Document and do File/Open, the item is open in the Navigator

How to View Properties of Job?
Steps:
1) Start Teamcenter, MyTeamcenter.
2) Select Home folder, create a new Item.
3) Select the Item revision, File-> New-> Workflow Process...
4) In My Navigator select the ItemRevision.
5) In the Impact Analysis/Referencer pane, select Where Referenced.
6) Expand the objects until the EPMJob is exposed.
7) Select EPMJob, RMB to view the properties of this object.
8) Hit 'Close', then the 'Properties' dialog appears => ok,
How to Checked out an Item & ensured it’s checked out?
Checking out an Item does immediately show the object checked out.
Steps:
1.
Right Click and Check out the object

The column should show the object is checked out
How to create and view PSEUDO folder for specification relation?
The similar steps can be used for creating pseudo folder for any specific relation.
Steps:
1. Click on Edit - Options to get the Options dialog. Select Item Revision on left and then
click on "Related Object" tab. Add "Specifications" to the Shown relations section.
2. Create a new item expand it. The Specifications pseudo folder should be displayed. If the
pseudo folder is not showing then right mouse click on Item revision and pick refresh so
that the pseudo folder appears.
3. Now send the item revision to Structure Manager.

The item revision shows as top line in Structure Manager.
Click on Data Panel to open the data panel and then click on Attachments tab.
Select the Specifications pseudo folder.
Click on File - New - Form, select BOM Change Form type and enter name to create the
form.
8. Click on OK. Form is created and pasted below Specifications pseudo folder.
Example of BomView Revision Update:
Steps
1.) Create the assembly 6434567-assem-v having component 6434567-comp-1v and
6434567-comp-2v
2.) Open My Navigator and expand 6434567-assem-v down to the View folder and look at
the contents. Components 6434567-comp-1v and 6434567-comp-2v are referenced as
expected.
3.) File -> Open 6434567-assem-v/A and delete component 6434567-comp-2v/A and save
assembly.
4.) In Teamcenter open the BOMView View folder and the contents show a reference to
only one component as assembly only has a single component.
5.) Send the assembly to the PSE and the PSE and check the component there.
6.) In the PSE go to View -> Refresh Window (It should show only one component w/o
refresh)
7.) Close the PSE
What is Unit of Measure (UOM)?
A unit of measure is a measurement category (for example, inches, millimeters, and so on).
This can applied to Item while creating. It will be populated as LOV if there are more than UOM
present in the system (Just Info: UOM need to be created through BMIDE).

How to configure CICO notifications?
Steps:
1) Launch Teamcenter Environment Manager and install "Database Demons (Action and
subscription manager service)
2) Login with infodba user
3) Set below Teamcenter site preferences (EditOptions)
a. TC_refresh_notify = ON
b. IMAN_subscription = ON
c. IMAN_subscription_log_event_and_action_status = ON
d. TC_refresh_notify_subscribe_to_types = All
e. UGMASTER_subscribe_to_events = All
4) Logout of Teamcenter and login again
5) Start TC command prompt and run below command
a. subscriptionmgrd.exe -u=infodba -p=<password> -g=dba
6) Create a Item having word dataset attached to the ItemRevision
7) Select a word dataset dataset, MB3, check-out
8) Select same word dataset, MB3, Transfer Check-Out to other user "user2"
9) Select Mailbox in the user's home folder and do refresh
a. Notifications are generated in the mailbox
10) Change below teamcenter site preferences
a. TC_refresh_notify = OFF
b. IMAN_subscription = OFF
c. IMAN_subscription_log_event_and_action_status = OFF
d. TC_refresh_notify_subscribe_to_types = None

How to hide applications at a user level?
Steps:
1) In the portal directory, there are 2 files: Portal.properties & Portal_user.properties
2) You can specify what you want your users to see, by what is in the
portal_user.properties file.
3) Copy the appropriate lines from the portal.properties file to the portal_user.properties
file.
Example:
1) TeamCenter.APPLICATIONS=com.ugsolutions.iman.explorer.ExplorerApplication,com.
ugsolutions.iman.caese.CAESEApplication,com.ugsolutions.iman.pse.PSEApplication
a. This will show only: My Navigator, CAE SE and PSE to user.

Business Scenario: Object Locking: Create a workflow having task template “add status”
Specification:
1. Objects in Teamcenter need lock down for migration purposes.
2. The migrator need to add status to objects via workflow.

Login to Teamcenter as member of dba group.
Go to Admin --> Type --> Status and create a status type e.g. CMM Approved
Go to Admin --> Workflow Designer
Execute File --> New Root Template...
Enter a New Root Template Name,base on Empty Template,
Ensure that Template type is set to Process,and press OK.
On the Workflow Designer toolbar, press the Add Status Task Template icon (checkered
flag)
8. In the graphics area, double click to create a new add status icon.
9. Drag the mouse cursor from the Start icon to the add status icon to create an arrowed line
(careful not to touch the title bar)
10. Do the same from the add status icon to the Finish icon.
11. Select the add status task icon and execute right mouse button --> Task Properties...
12. In the Attributes panel, select your Release Status e.g. CMM Approved.
13. Toggle on the "Set Stage to Available" button.
14. This workflow is now available for the File --> New --> Process operation in My
Navigator.
