~be - Jfune Villager \986 the pulilicaticn of yowMin~rva Park Civic Association It was a great day for a garage sale. Except for a few shmvers at noontime, it was great weather. Some people found lots of good things to buy. The kids thought they entered a toy store at this garage sale. The entire garage was filled with toys. My son,Eddie, thought this garage sale was fabulous. Here's a picture of the sale - the Perfect's on Wildwood Road. ~lection of ®fficers mark pour calenbar! Election of officers for Civic Association will take place at 7:30 on June lOth at the Community Building. The positions open for nomination are as follows: President Vice President Secretary Treasurer 3 - 2 year board members 1 - 1 year board member JUNE CALENDAR June 3rd - NCC at 7:30 9th - Village Council at 8:00 lOth - Civic Assoc. at 7:30 :15th - Father's Day :·18th - VILLAGER deadline All of the above meetings are held at the Community Building and are open to the public. Those people who have rumbled about the way things have been done in the past should come forward too. Now is the time for you to get involved. Civic Association needs people who are willing to come to each monthly meeting. It needs people who will readily volunteer to "pitch in and help . " Come forward now to volunteer for the Civic Association or forever hold your peace! VILLAGE COUNCIL REQUIRED READING Council met in regular session May 12, 1986, with all members present. Peggy Holfin?er, President-elect of the Women s Club, reported that they hope to have a representative at each of the Council meetings. She announced the Installation Banquet this month and invited Council to attend the annual pot luck dinner being planned for the fall. She also showed the attractive new Minerva Park Cook Book currently on sale. The Mayor explained the current Village insurance situation. Very short notice of cancellation was given, and though most policies have been placed, the umbrella and general liability have not. Costs have risen (generally three times the rates of a year .ago ~ and many companies are no longer writing this type of insurance. Streets - Dave Blair reported he had looked into a number of drainage problems and will get with Lee Rupp to see what ean be done for some of them. At least one of them appeared to be due to a blockage in the sewer. It was pointed out that blmving grass and leaves into the street, and subsequently into the drain, blocked drains and sewers which are costly to the village. * A public hearing will be held Sunday, June 8th at 8 PM at the Community Building. The Planning and Zoning Commission of Minerva Park will consider a zoning request from applicant, Golden Bear Home & Sport Center, Inc. (out of Akron, Ohio) on the Harper Land, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, the historic Phelps House. The land is currently zoned "business district - suburban office" The request asks for "business district - . retail to permit retail business and service outlets." The store sells major appliances and electronics. The public is encouraged to attend to hear both side of this zoning request. George and Miriam Crosby on Minerva Lake Road. Finance - Mr. Champney informed Council that it needs to begin planning for funding needs. The Village is currently existing virtually hand to mouth and the increased insurance rates, along with many other increases, are a real problem. WOMENS CLUB INSTALLATION BANQUET As there was no more business to come before the body, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30.P.H. 2 The Installation Banquet was held on May 27th at the Hilton North in Worthington. New officers were installed. They are as follows: President - Peggy Holfinger Vice President - Judy Horton Secretary - Betty Beatrice Treasurer - Ruth Mussio Entertainment was provided by Westerville South Chorale Croup.
