A MESSAGE FROM THE GM…__________
The demand is increasing for qualified operators. One recent search
for jobs identified four large companies searching for over 220 operators
collectively. More importantly, the education requirements for these included having a heavy equipment operator certificate.
We are having more and more employers scheduling time to come to
our sites and hire. This enables an employer to meet individuals who want a

career operating heavy equipment. As well, the employer can observe the
students operating and make a job offer to those who fit the criteria the
employer is looking for.
As Industry continues to expand and the labour shortage increases, we are seeing a
shift from companies trying to hire trained operators to sending their key employees to us for
further
training.

“Just want to thank you for all great classroom time and the information
you bestowed on me. It has given me what was needed to land an
awesome job with KMC Mining in Ft. McMurray. I just started riding jump
seat on the Komatsu 930E Haul Truck (350 tonne). They are an
incredible machine and much larger than I expected. I hope to get behind
the wheel in a few days. I'm currently on a 5/5/5 (5days, 5nights, 5off)
shift. I got out of IHE what I was hoping for ... some good training and
then a great job. Many Thanks!”
