Dear LHS Parents, Guardians and Students,
Our 2016 seniors excitedly look forward to the enormous next step in their lives, our juniors
eagerly wait to become the next LHS Senior Class, and there is a group of 8th graders
at LMS that anxiously anticipates making the big move to LHS. We have had a great
year this year which has been marked with a number of successes, both academically
and in extracurricular activities. You can read more information about these successes

I want to congratulate two outstanding students, Ivy May and Cameron James,
who both made it through the final stages of state Governor’s Honors interviews and
have been selected to represent Loganville High School this summer in the Governor’s
Honors Program at Valdosta State University. Ivy will be attending the agriculture program
and Cameron will be studying mathematics. You can learn more about the Governor’s
Honors Program (GHP) at https://gosa.georgia.gov/governors-honors-program. Ivy and
Cameron are the only two students selected from the Walton County School District,
so this is quite an honor and we are very proud of their efforts.

As you read this final issue of The Heat for this school year, the staff and students of
LHS feel like we are flying toward EOC’s, final exams, graduation, and summer vacation.
To the parents of the LHS Seniors, I wish a great last month of school for you and
your children. The faculty at LHS has great hope and expectations for these young adults.
The Class of 2016 has surpassed $1.45 million in non-HOPE scholarships so far. While this
is a big number, we ask our parents to send to our counseling department any scholarship
offers you have received. Also, please keep up to date with any senior information on the
LHS website under the “Senior Information” tab. This page also includes very important
information about graduation events, parking, and ticketing. Additionally, you can join
the Remind 101 Senior group by using instructions from the “Senior Information” tab.
Finally, parents, I want to thank you for all of the support that you show to Loganville
High School and for the hard work you put into your children. We have terrific students
at LHS, and it is a pleasure to work with them and with you.

The End-of-Course assessments (EOC) will be administered May
10 through May 17th. Students are required to take state-mandated
End-of-Course assessment in the areas of Algebra, Geometry, US History,
Economics, Biology, 9th Literature, and American Literature. Failure to take
these exams will cause you to receive an Incomplete.
AP Exams
Advanced Placement exams will be administered May 2 through May 12.
Summer Credits:
Students planning on taking summer classes through schools other than Walton
County Public Schools (Faith Academy, on-line correspondence, etc.) must receive prior
authorization from their counselor. Failure to receive course approval may result in not receiving credit for
the course taken. Classes taken at Loganville High School during summer Intersession are exempt from

With the school year coming to an end
soon, we will be collecting the school iPads
for the summer. For seniors, their iPads will
be reconfigured and redistributed to new
students next year.. For underclassman, they
will receive their same iPads back when they
return to school in August. In preparation for
iPad Collection Day, it will be important that you:

help you plan for your future. Some recommended

LHS Counselors Thank Our Volunteers:
As the 2015-2016 school year comes to a close, the LHS Counseling Department would like to take
this opportunity to thank the many volunteers who have helped in the Counseling Office throughout the
course of this year. There are many parents, students, office aides, teachers, and administrators that
have volunteered their time for events like Registration, Parent Nights, and more. To all of our volunteers,
please accept our deepest appreciation. Your enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment to helping serve
the students of LHS is sincerely appreciated.
LHS Seniors Reach $1,000,000 In Earned Scholarships!!
Students continue to accept financial aid awards from the LHS local scholarship program as well as
from individual colleges and universities around the country, so the total earned scholarships will continue
to climb! If you have received an award letter, please submit a copy to Ms. Williams in the Counseling
Office as soon as possible so that you can be recognized for your great accomplishment, and help raise
the total LHS scholarship amount!
Now is the time to be exploring, goal-setting,
and preparing for your future. Speak to your parents
and/or your counselor to discuss your plans.

Cady Studios spoke with rising seniors
during advisement on March 24 regarding senior
portraits. At that time, Cady Studios advised
students both on the various packages they offer, as
well as when and where to schedule appointments
online. This information is also posted to the school’s
website under the Home, Senior Information, and
Yearbook (under Parents & Students) pages.
Senior portraits will take place on July 21-22 at
Loganville High School. This photography company
also offers an “in-studio” option.
Your student MUST have his/her picture
taken by Cady Studios before August 30 in order
to be included in the 2016-2017 yearbook. NO

Senior Salutations for the 2016 yearbook will go
on sale as soon as school starts in the fall. Space for
senior ads is limited, and ads will be processed on
a first-come-first-served basis. All ads will be color,
and prices are as follows:

Parents should be on the lookout for Senior
Salutation forms to arrive in the mail some time just
before the start of school in August. Additional forms
will be available online and in the front office after
the first day of school. Please note, this year you
will select from pre-designed templates for senior
salutations/pages. You may still opt to design and
submit your own salutation, but the yearbook staff
will be using design templates for the 2017 yearbook.
The deadline for Senior Salutation orders is
September 16, 2016. If you have any questions,

Cady Studios will take stage / diploma pictures. These pictures will be available online through the
Loganville website the week after graduation. Mr. Robison will remain on stage after the ceremony for parents

Graduates who have perfect attendance during their senior year will receive the diploma pictures (four
5X7’s) for free. These must be ordered online.
Memory Maker, Inc. will be recording the graduation ceremony. This DVD will be available for purchase, and
it will include additional highlights from your senior year. Video order forms will be available in the LHS front office
the week after graduation or you may order the DVD online at [email protected]

CONFERENCE
Mya Watson, Jonathan White and Gage Williams have been
selected to represent Loganville High School at the CTI State
Leadership Conference. Students from all over the state of Georgia
will meet at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Georgia on April
20-22. They will compete in a variety of career technical areas and
participate in numerous activities. CTI coordinator Trudy Shirah
will accompany them along with students and coordinators from
Monroe Area High School and Walnut Grove High School.

FBLA
Loganville High School FBLA members
volunteered at the Valentine’s Sweetheart Dance
on Friday, February 12 after school at Southern
Plantation assisted living home. The students
danced, mingled, and chatted with the residents.
They also served them food and drinks and cleaned
up afterwards. The residents truly enjoyed having
the students there and commented how much they
enjoyed the students.

CONFERENCE
Over 1,500 middle and high school students in Family
and Consumer Sciences attended the Georgia FCCLA State
Leadership Conference at the Classic Center in Athens. Students
attended general sessions, workshops and competed in different
competitive events.
Loganville High School was recognized as a Honor Roll
chapter and for completing six of the eight national FCCLA
programs. Chapter adviser, Traci Bryant, was recognized as the
outgoing Past Chair of the Georgia FCCLA Board of Directors. Kayla
Shelnutt, a freshman at LHS, was one of the state officer
candidates for Region 2. Tiffany Daugherty and Hope Mimbs, both
sophomores, received a silver medal in the Chapter Service Project Portfolio STAR Event. Christina Taylor and
Jenny Long, also sophomores, received a gold medal in the Chapter in Review Portfolio STAR Event. Mandy
Lin and Muntaha Qadri, both freshmen, received a gold medal in the Food Innovations STAR Event.
“The students are truly the face of the future. They competed in activities that showcased not only their
knowledge, but their leadership skills,” said chapter adviser, Traci Bryant. “Congratulations to the students
for their hard work and preparation.”

The LHS PTSO held the 12th Annual Miss
LHS Pageant on March 12 with 62 contestants
participating. Congratulations to the 2016 Miss
LHS Queen Hannah Robinson, and her court,
Emily Rutledge, Miss Junior; Brittany Reynolds,
Miss Sophomore; and Amanda Austin, Miss
Freshman. The Spirit of Miss LHS was awarded
to Jada Stark. The Miss LHS Pageant is the largest
PTSO fundraiser each year with all proceeds
supporting the LHS senior scholarship fund. This
year, the PTSO raised over $15,000 for this
fund!! Thank you to all our beautiful contestants
for helping make this one of our most successful
pageants!

NIGHT
Chorus, Drama, Art, and Band
will jointly host a Fine Arts Night
on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from
7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Loganville
High School. It will be an evening
to showcase our talented fine arts
students and will feature a student
art exhibit, and drama and music
performances followed by an hors

BASEBALL
As of early spring, the Loganville High School varsity baseball team is currently 15-5 in the Region 8 standings with a 12-3 record. Leading
the way offensively is Carson McCullers (.354), Jonothan Lee (.407), Marcellus Campbell (.436), Morgan Copeland (.354), Timmy Elliott (.439),
Bryce Fowler (.339), and Rhett Mixon (.347). On the mound, leading the way is All-American Mitchell Miller (5-1, 0.70 ERA) with one no-hitter
and one 1 hitter, Timmy Elliott (1.4 ERA), Ryan English (0.80 ERA) and Drew Franklin (2.04 ERA). The Red Devils have not won a Region title
since 2012 and aim to take back the crown and make a run in the state playoffs.
