A Human Services transportation program which seeks to meet the transportation needs of older adults, persons with disabilities and transportation challenged individuals residing in Planning District 16 in Virginia. What is the goal of Mobility Management program? To create and market a transportation program with a single point of contact (One-Stop-Shop Concept) listing all transportation resources in the region Mobility Options Transportation Program Door-to-door service (Demand-Response) Available to persons 60 years of age or older and to persons with disabilities Federal/state funding (New Freedom 5310) drives this program Can be used for a variety of appointments (medical/personal) Available on a first-come, first served schedule Request must be made at least seven business days in advance but no more than 30 days in advance Mobility Options Transportation Program 1-800-627-2892 is the contact phone number for all requests Requests made with less than seven business days may not be able to be accommodated Minimal cost: $1.00 charge each way– local and $2.50 out-of-town Requst for transportation may be made on line: www.raaa16.org/mobility_options Regional Human Services Transportation Coordinating Committee (RHSTCC) This is the advisory board to the RAAA Mobility Options program. Members of this committee represent organizations that provide services to clients with transportation needs. It’s a sounding board for all items related to the Mobility Options program, and provides guidance, direction and recommendations to RAAA as it seeks to meet the transportation needs of Planning District 16. Additional Transportation Resources Available FRED Regional Transit / Travel Training Gasoline/Fuel Card Allocation Volunteer Driver Program Fredericksburg Regional Transit Safe, reliable transportation throughout the region Inexpensive: $.75 per boarding The entire fleet is fully accessible for all mobility devices Route deviation Interested individuals or groups can be trained to use FRED (to be described later in the presentation) Regional Travel Training Program Travel Training is short-term comprehensive instruction designed to teach interested parties how to safely and independently use public (fixed-route) transportation What is the target population of RAAA Travel Training program? Older adults or persons with disabilities that seek to be independent Those who like to travel in and about their community Those who have needs of a personal or professional nature Those who need to go places and wish to do so in safe and inexpensive manner Those who choose to minimize or discontinue driving their own personal vehicle What is the benefit of completing a Travel Training course?
