reinstall them when a new location is found. Even minor damage to the
units, especially the riding surfaces, could result in serious user injury.
3.4
Work limits to be confined to the areas identified on the drawings. Any
disturbance outside or inside the identified limit of work to be restored to the
approval of the City’s representative. The cost of any restoration due to contactor
damage shall be borne by the contractor at no cost to the City, with the possible

subsurface piping. Please note that Waterworks staff may require
emergency access to items within the building’s fenced compound at any
time, and the contractor may have to temporarily move equipment or
vehicles from this area at short notice.
4.5
The Contractor shall be responsible to prevent all vehicles and heavy
equipment from accessing or resting on the reservoir surface or turf side
slopes at any time. The water reservoir concrete surface and side slopes
have very limited load capacity, and use of any equipment in these areas
over 50 kilos in weight is not permitted as damage may occur. Vehicles are
permitted only in the areas indicated on Removal Location Plan.
4.6
Due to water quality concerns the contractor is strongly discouraged from
using any products (including but not limited to solvents, degreasers,
cleaners, etc.) at the Removal Location work site. It is anticipated that the

damage (e.g. on asphalt rather than turf areas). If turf areas must be used, ask
City’s representative if approval for steel plates will be granted prior to
work. All other vehicles should park on adjacent public streets. Park only in legal
areas, and do not block any private or public driveways, mailboxes, trails,
sidewalks, etc.
COMMENCEMENT AND COMPLETION
5.1
The contractor shall commence work (liaison, steps planning) immediately after
contract award, and shall start on site on the estimated start date.
Note that Barkman Concrete Ltd. is based in Winnipeg and requires a
minimum of 4-5 days notice of work start date, and the work should
commence early in a work week (preferably Monday) to avoid additional
Barkman charges for a weekend stay.
5.2
The work shall commence according to the plans and specifications, within the
time limit as established in the Instruction to Bidders. Allowance shall be made

Scheduling of Work
.1
Plan safe and efficient processes for all removal and storage work steps in
consultation with Barkman Concrete Ltd., other subcontractors and City’s
representative as soon as possible after contract award. Note: Barkman Concrete
Ltd. tasks and responsibilities are fully outlined in their quotation provided with
Tender. Review detailed steps and work areas on site with City’s representative
at mandatory pre-start site meeting. Many of the lifting eyes are accessible
without moving the units, so grout removal can begin prior to crane operator start.
However as many of these lifting eyes are on riding surfaces, grout removal
should start close to the lift day to minimize chance of injury in case
skateboarders gain access to the work area.
.2
Schedule all removal and storage steps with subcontractors to ensure a smooth
and efficient process on site, and meet the City’s requirement to remove the
equipment off site as soon as possible; preferably while frost is still present in the
