*14. “ALL THINGS BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL”

Who would have thought such an energetic trio of animal
stars could create such a serene painting? Eli, Lola, and Pearl,
all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, moved across painter
Mary Margaret Binkley’s canvas as through a familiar dreamworld just beyond their reach. The final masterpiece evokes
mystery mingled with quiet longing.
15. CORTONA, ITALY FOR 8-10
Casa Ombretta is a lovingly restored medieval home, located in upper Cortona, a
neighborhood known as Poggio. This residential neighborhood was the wealthier
part of Cortona in the middle ages, and was where Cortona’s nobility lived. Homes
were larger and it had the best views of the valley. Casa Ombretta has an enormous walled private garden that wraps around the mountain, with an amazing
view of the valley that stretches out seemingly forever. Gardens this large are almost
nonexistent in Cortona, it being a medieval hill town with small dwellings and almost no outside spaces except courtyards and terraces. The rooms are all spacious
with high ceilings and are appointed with beautiful Tuscan antiques.
Casa Ombretta has 4 double bedrooms, 2 of the bedrooms have a single day
daybed as well as a queen size bed, and one of the double bedrooms also has an
adjoining living room suite with a double sleeper sofa, so that a family of 4 could
use these 2 rooms quite easily. The latest renovation is a garden apartment which has its own self-contained
kitchen and bath, which can be entered from its own entrance from the street and also from the garden in
back. There is an adjoining door which also connects the apartment to the main house. There are 4 full bathrooms. The home will accommodate from 8-10 people comfortably with the option of adding 2 additional
people in twin beds that are in existing bedrooms. Casa Ombretta is exquisite and the owner, Ombretta Tenani, is very proud of her creation; this home has been in her family for generations. Ombretta and Torquato
are lovely hosts and are available to assist in making your stay at their home the most memorable ever.

Three diverse women walking three diverse dogs -- this activity embodies the all-inclusive spirit of Hand in Paw. Using
collage elements to create depth, well-known local artist
and teacher Beth Bradley creates the perfect backdrop for
60 paw prints and 60 thumbprints by the therapy teams
who bring joy and peace to so many patients through the
UAB Health System. Beth and her multiple accomplices
project a lot of colorful love with her signature colors of
bright oranges & turquoises. One of our most frequent artist
contributors to the Hand in Paw cause, Beth’s works have
fetched some of the higher prices in our live auction history.

Talk about star power… country music legend
Emmylou Harris and renowned Birmingham
artist Arthur Price joined four-legged artist Clyde
on location in Nashville to create this soulful
landscape. Early reviews proclaim his performance the break-out role for Clyde, a lab mix!
The project is dedicated to Emmylou’s rescue facility Bonaparte’s Retreat and the many loveable
creatures who have come through its doors.

19. “HOLLYWOOF AWARDS”
Artist, John Hyche, native of Birmingham and masterful painter of abstract canvases, shows us
once again the formal elements matched by the universal expressive qualities with which he
instills in his works. This year’s original art aptly named “Hollywoof Awards” embraces the signature of the artist as well as the unique magic that is Picasso Pets. John’s works hang in numerous
private and corporate collections throughout the country.
20. “REACHING FOR THE GIFT”
This beautiful 60”x24” painting was created by local artist, Thomas Andrew. Dramatic lighting
is Tom’s signature and he says, “I don’t paint frilly cherubs resting on cotton clouds. My spiritual
figures are dramatic and meant to stir deep emotions.”
21. GROUP DOVE HUNT FOR UP TO 25
Enjoy Riverwood Outdoors located on a 4,000 acre
privately owned property in Bremen, AL (40 minute drive from Birmingham). More than 5 miles of the Mulberry River run through this
property, as well a portion of Lake Suzanne. This dove hunt for 25
guns takes place over planted and managed fields. The package
includes the dove hunt, lunch, skeet shooting and fishing. Appropriately trained hunting dogs are welcome and are treated like family (they’ll enjoy a dip in the pool on a hot
day!). The hunt can be scheduled between the owner of Riverwood Outdoors for a date between September
13, 2014, and October 18, 2014.

22. WEEKEND GETAWAY AT GORHAM’S BLUFF
Located in the foothills of the Appalachians in Pisgah, AL and overlooking the Tennessee River, Gorham’s Bluff
is a lovely destination spot for a weekend getaway, charming wedding or family reunion. Stroll the charming streets, smile at the quaint picket fences, toast the sunsets and be amazed at the view. This Weekend
Getaway package includes 1 room for 2 consecutive nights during a weekend and 5 meals per person.
Check-in time is 3:00 pm on Friday, with dinner that evening served in the dining room of the Lodge. Satur-
day morning breakfast is in the Lodge dining room,
followed by a box lunch midday, and dinner on
Saturday night in the dining room. The final meal
is breakfast on Sunday morning. Check-out time is
noon on Sunday. We are not able to accommodate early check-in or late check-out. Please note
that Gorham’s Bluff is located in a dry county. Bring
your own wine or spirits – we do not charge a corkage fee. Lodging fees, taxes and tip are included
in the Weekend Package.

23. OLSON PAINTING
This unique 38x50 painting was created by artist Leif Olson. Orginally
from San Franciso and a 1973 graduate of California College of Arts in
Oakland, Olson feels his true education came while taking part in a Hippie-type floating commune in 1974 that traveled through New Zealand,
Melanesia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka for three years. Like pirates, they
stumbled through a mutual adventure in exotic and remarkable environs
while deeply relying on those that would not otherwise be friends. A great
extent of his work deals with the individual in relation to each other. “If we
are here to get along and make this a paradise on earth, art could get me
there. Perhaps if there is a point to all of this it’s that the things that bind
us and keep us vibrant are also elusive and made of magical elements
contrary to logic of the laws of nature. I have really nothing to say. I really
have no lessons to teach. Be here now and love more than you are loved.”

24. DIAMOND NECKLACE
This pendant is 14k yellow gold containing a marquise diamond with a
.45 total weight and a round accent diamond. This beautiful necklace was
donated by Diamonds Direct.
25. DOG SCULPTURE
This unique dog sculpture was created by Veronique (Vero) Vanblaere. She
began creating artwork in the early 1990’s in Belgium, her native country. She settled in Birmingham, AL in 1996, where, two years later, she
opened Naked Art. Her artwork varies from constructed lamps with various everyday objects to small hand-painted items like light switch plates,
which have found homes all over the US.
