General Information
Yildiz Technical University is one of the twelve
public universities situated in İstanbul besides being
one of the oldest university of Turkey with its
history dating back to 1911. It is regarded as one of
the best universities in the country, as well.
Our university has three campuses located in
different areas of Istanbul:
- Main campus is situated in Besiktas which is one
of the most central areas on the European side,
- Davutpaşa campus is situated in Esenler, and
- the third one is in Maslak which is a very central
area as well.

History
There are several stages that our university has passed through
in its distinguished past.
 The Conductors (Technicians) School of Higher
Education (1911-1922); to meet he requirement for
«science office»
 The School of Public Works (1922-1937);
3-year program for technicians
 The Istanbul Technical School (1937-1969);
4-year program for engineering
 Architectural Academy Period (1969-1982);
autonomous higher education and research institution
 The Yıldız University Period (1982-1992);
