Fifth Sunday of Easter — May 3, 2015
REFLECTION
As we gather today in Christ’s name, we can reflect on the
fact that ours is but one of many, many communities
throughout the world that are gathering today in the same
way. Indeed, Christ is the true vine and there are many
branches. As we continue today, perhaps our prayer can be
that each of the branches grow stronger on the vine, and
that all might grow closer together as we share Christ’s
mission on this earth.
OUR WEEKLY COLLECTION
Our Sunday offering for the weekend of April 26 was
$11,425. Thank you for your generous offering. May your
love and sacrifices be greatly rewarded.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Fifth Sunday of Easter
Week of May 3, 2015
Theme: I am the vine; you are the branches.
Question for Adults: How does your own connection to
Christ, the vine, affect your daily life? What image from this
reading helps you see the importance of this connection to
Christ?
Question for Children: How do you keep yourself connected to Jesus in your daily life?

NOTRE DAME SCHOOL NEWS
TUESDAY STUDY GROUP
Congratulations to our 35 students who received their First Holy Communion this Sunday at the 12:00 noon Mass. These students
also celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time last week. Congratulations to all our NDS students who participated in the Campus Star competition. We had 20 students who were honored for their outstanding writing, illustrations, and games
and puzzles.
The group has chosen to study “The Joy of the Gospel” by
Pope Francis. A study of this document will inform us as to
Francis’ understanding of our Church and its mission in the
contemporary age. A copy of the document is available at
many websites and can be downloaded or purchased. Understanding the mind of Pope Francis can help us all understand our own mission as members of the Church, and how
we might be more fully Church, the Body of Christ in 2015.
All parishioners are invited to attend the Notre Dame
School Fiesta FANTASY Dinner and Auction on Saturday,
May 16. Festivities start at 6 pm in the St. Joseph’s Parish
Center. Tickets are available in the school office or online at
www.notredamevacaville.org. Come out and support our
parish school and enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner with
friends and family.
UPPER ROOM EXPERIENCE RETREAT
There are still a few spaces open for kindergarten students
and students in grades 1-5 for the 2015-2016 school year.
Visit our website at www.notredamevacaville.org for a
more in-depth look at our programs and an application, or
call 707-447-1460 to schedule a tour with Principal Susan
Walls, [email protected].
We meet on Tuesday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. in PCMR#3.
The Disciples of Jesus Ministry will conduct a two-day retreat on May 16 (8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.) and May 17 (1:00 p.m.7:00 p.m.) at the Holy Spirit Parish Center. The retreat,
called “ Upper Room Experience” (URE), is a more interactive Life in the Spirit Seminar where attendees are asked to
participate in group activities geared to deepen the knowledge of our Catholic faith, our relationship with God and one
another. This year’s retreat will also focus on family relationships. For more information, please contact: Carlos & Malou
Oriño (707) 426-1401, Fely Barrios (707) 864-0118 or visit our
website at www.disciplesofjesus.com.
