JINGLEBELL JAM AUCTION CATALOG Saturday, December 5, 2015 JingleBell Jam is presented by Saturday, December 5, 2015 Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center PRESENTED BY Beneficiary ALL PROCEEDS FROM FESTIVAL OF TREES 2015 SUPPORT THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WHO DEPEND ON MARY BRIDGE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOR CARE AND COMPASSION WHEN THEY NEED IT THE MOST. For sixty years, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital has been saving the lives of children and providing comfort to families. It is Southwest Washington’s only pediatric hospital – and because of you, it provides the highest quality of care for all children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay. Festival of Trees is a cherished tradition. It is both a celebration of the winter holidays and a tribute to the generous individuals and families who understand that the greatest gift is health, especially the well-being of our community’s children. Across the country, philanthropy has meant the difference between a good hospital and a great one. Thanks to all the donors who have made Mary Bridge what it is today – and to all of you who will make Mary Bridge what it will be tomorrow. 2 Make A Joyful Noise Welcome to the 29th annual Festival of Trees Jinglebell Jam! The theme of this year’s Jinglebell Jam is “Make a Joyful Noise,” which celebrates the joyous music we make at this event — from the laughter of friends and family, the clink of toasting glasses, and the swinging sounds of Daryl & The Diptones. I would like to thank our devoted sponsors, donors, board members, volunteers and employees. The continued success of Festival of Trees is all because of you. Jinglebell Jam is supporting a special cause this year. All proceeds will support BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children, a Mary Bridge program that helps grieving children learn to cope with the loss of a parent, sibling, close relative or friend. This vital program played an important role in my own son’s life when we suddenly lost his father. Through peer groups, Jeffrey learned how to heal and grow and, with time, return to doing the most important work of a child: making joyful noises. By raising your paddle to support BRIDGES, you will help ensure that no child grieves alone this holiday season. Tonight I ask you to make a joyful noise with your bid card — raising it high and often for the children in your life and in our community. Make a Joyful Noise at Jinglebell Jam! The children found comfort holding these hearts while sharing the circumstances that brought them to BRIDGES, a family grief support center. They told stories about the significant person in their lives who had died. Sometimes the death was sudden through accident or illness. Sometimes there had been a prolonged period of anticipating the death through a lengthy illness. At other times the death was by suicide or homicide. Whatever the story brought by the child, comfort was needed. Feelie Hearts provided something tangible and comforting to hold onto for these young grievers. The comfort the Feelie Hearts provided to the children inspired a volunteer group facilitator to create pocket-sized hearts in memory of her young son. Groups and individuals from across the country are now volunteering to make Feelie Hearts for BRIDGES! Feelie Hearts grew in popularity as BRIDGES shared the hearts not only with children but to adults who came to the support group. Many place their hearts in their pocket and take it with them to school, work, or wherever they might need to be reminded that they are loved and cared for. Some have chosen to give their heart away to someone going through a difficult time. Stories have been written about circumstances in which the hearts were used. A teacher tells us about a child in her classroom who gave his small red velvet Feelie Heart to a classmate who shared about her loss. A young girl gave her heart to her father when her parents divorced. Two young teens placed their Feelie Hearts in their grandmother’s casket along with notes of special memories. BRIDGES Feelie Hearts have been mailed as far away as Australia and the Middle East as children send their messages of love, hope and healing to others who are experiencing pain. It is estimated that over 100,000 Feelie Hearts have been handed out at BRIDGES since the first children’s group adopted the large velvet hearts in 1988. We are very happy to make the Feelie Hearts available to those who are in need of care and comfort. 15 16 Live Auction 17 Live Auction 1 Pairing Up Community friends Dana and Josh Bridge invite you to enhance tonight’s dining experience from beginning to end with an impressive selection of distinctive premium wines. Write your bid number on the bid sheet when bidding on silent auction items and hold your bid card up to bid on live auction items. Be prepared to bid when the auctioneer makes a price call, as the process moves quickly. For your convenience, two copies of the bid card have been provided. • In accordance with laws of the State of Washington, a bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. As well in the silent auction, a bid acknowledged by the silent auction official as the top bid is a legal contract to purchase that silent auction item. By bidding in the live or silent auction, each bidder agrees to abide by the auction rules here stated. • Please pay for all purchases before leaving. We will gladly accept your payment by cash, personal or corporate check, VISA, American Express, or MasterCard. Please make all checks payable to Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation. A receipt suitable for tax purposes will be mailed following the event. Payment in full is required JingleBell Jam evening, Saturday, December 5, 2015. • In accordance with IRS requirements, a listing of the Fair Market Value for all items for auction shall be made available for review by guests beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the banking area. • All purchases/transactions at the Festival are exempt from Washington state sales tax. All other taxes and licenses are the responsibility of the purchaser. • Due to license and insurance regulations, all items requiring a title or transfer of license must be claimed at the donor’s place of business. Purchasers are obligated to pay all transfer fees, license fees, and taxes as well as make arrangements for insurance coverage. • Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Auction payments are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution only to the extent provided by law. Please consult your tax professional regarding the deductibility of any auction purchase. • All purchases are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds on items either at the Festival or donor’s place of business, unless stated otherwise. • Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation reserves the right to add, substitute, or withdraw any item or component from auction prior to the call for bids. • Any item not receiving the required minimum bid may be removed from auction. • Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations must be arranged with the donor for mutually acceptable dates unless otherwise specified. Tickets in travel packages are for coach-class services unless otherwise noted. No refunds or exchanges will be allowed on travel packages for cancelled tickets or accommodations. Some tickets may include restrictions or “blackout” periods. Please consult your travel advisor regarding the purchase of travel insurance. • 46 Auction Rules and Information, Continued Unless otherwise noted, all goods and services must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date. • The Festival of Trees has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered as is, where is. The Festival of Trees neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for, the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement, made in this catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability. Items have not been appraised unless so noted in writing. • JingleBell Jam evening volunteers may request a bid card. By bidding in the live or silent auction, each volunteer agrees to abide by these rules. • The auctioneer is the final decision maker on all live auction activities. • ADDITIONAL SILENT AUCTION RULES Each item will have a posted minimum bid. • Bid raises must be in minimum amounts specified on the bid sheet for each item, or the bid will be disqualified. • The first bidder listing his or her bid number in the Guaranteed Purchase Box owns that item. • BE CAREFUL!
