Thank You to the women who take care of washing and ironing altar linens for our parishes! They

PFFP Posts: Our Seder Meal is this Saturday, March 19th, following the 5 p.m. Mass at
Assumption - in the Assumption Hall! The
Holy Week Seder Meal connects Catholics to
the Last Supper: “On the eve of the first day
of Passover, Jewish families gather in their
homes to celebrate a meal and prayer service
called the Passover Seder. The connection to
Christianity is evident. When Catholics gather
to commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Christ, the celebration begins by recalling Christ and his Apostles at the Last
Supper, which was a Passover Seder meal.”

Father’s Corner:
The Easter Triduum. Part 1
The days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday,
Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday; these 72 hours are
the holiest time in the Church year. It begins Holy
Thursday with the celebration of the Last Supper and
the beginning of the Eucharist and the Priesthood. This
is recorded in Matthew 26: 17-35; Mark 14: 12-31; Luke
22: 7-34; 1 Corinthians 11: 23-28. Here Jesus eats His
last meal with the disciple until after He rises on Easter.
With this meal He celebrates the fulfillment of the Mosaic Covenant and begins the New Covenant. This is the
First Mass in remembrance of His coming sacrifice on
the Cross and begins the Priesthood with the command
to “do this in memory of me”.
Good Friday is the day Jesus died for our salvation.
It is recorded in Matthew 26:36-27:56; Mark 15: 1-47;
Luke: 22:39-23:49; John 18:1-19:42. Jesus suffers the
Agony of knowing what is coming in the Garden as He
prays. He is betrayed, arrested, beaten, denied, lied
about, tortured, and then crucified and finally He dies.
This is the sacrifice of the New Covenant; when Jesus
gives all that He is, both as a human and as God, so we
can be forgiven and saved. This is an example to us and
an example of true love. The love that we as members
of this Convent are to have for God and for one another.
However, we as disciples of Jesus, never stop at the
Crucifixion. We also remember the Resurrection of
Easter. And that will be next week’s corner.
Father Paul Wander
Pray the Novena of Divine Mercy . . . Begin on
Good Friday and pray everyday, novena is completed
on Mercy Sunday, April 3rd. Copies of the Novena
are in the entrances of our churches. . . Sister Faustina
was a young, uneducated nun in a convent of the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Poland during
the 1930s. She came from a poor family that struggled during
the years of World War I. She received extraordinary revelations — or messages — from our Lord Jesus. Jesus asked
Sr. Faustina to record these experiences, which she compiled
into notebooks. These notebooks are known today as the
Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, and the words contained within are God's loving message of Divine Mercy.
She received the Novena of Divine Mercy and Chaplet of
Divine Mercy. Saint John Paul II canonized Sr. Faustina in 2000;
speaking of Sr. Faustina and the importance of the message
contained in her Diary, the Pope called her "the great apostle
of Divine Mercy in our time."
"This is no time to be ashamed of the Gospel.
It is time to preach it from the rooftops.
Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable
and routine modes of living in order to take up
the challenge of making Christ known."
- Pope Saint John Paul II, World Youth Day, Denver, 1993
