KN 3 Sulaibia Waste Water Treatment Plant - Kuwait Ardiya Pumping Station - Kuwait Infrastructure Projects Development Infrastructure Project Development (IPD) is the development side of the Kharafi National business which is responsible for putting together the complete package of financing, design, construction and operation/ maintenance of major projects that are undertaken on a build-own-operatetransfer (BOOT), build-own-operate (BOO), build-operate-transfer(BOT) or public-private-partnership (PPP) basis. This facility comprises four covered bays, with a total covered area of 8,000m2, containing a variety of automatic welding and fabrication equipment. A second facility is a newly-established unit in the Mina Abdullah Industrial Zone, covering an area of 250,000m2. Its equipment includes conventional and highly sophisticated CNC machines, a 7.5 x 7.5 x 40m PHWT furnace, profile cutting machines, surface preparation and painting facilities, and enclosed vaults for radiography work. This provides Kharafi National with the capability to manufacture the large engineering products required for use within major strategic industrial developments currently taking place in Kuwait and globally. Kharafi National’s fabrication services business, which trades as ABJ Engineering & Contracting Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, and which manufactures a wide range of heavy industrial products for use in the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer, power, water, and related industrial sectors globally. These are the most advanced in the region, and include assembly areas that enable the company to fabricate extremely large works. Products designed, manufactured and installed by the company include: • pressure vessels • pressure piping • heavy structural steel works • Tanks, skids and evaporators, • Customized heavy-duty products for large-scale projects in Kuwait, the GCC, and Iraq. • New! In addition, the company’s workshops are certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors as meeting the quality standards of those bodies, and Kharafi National is authorised to apply the ‘U’, ‘U2’, ‘S’, ‘PP’ and ‘NB’ stamps to its products. The fabrication facilities have also been accredited for the refurbishing of coded equipment, to which KN applies the ‘NB-R’ stamps. North Africa Following the Arab Spring where there have been tremendous changes, we expect positive developments in terms of local and international investments in the private and public sector for PPP and BOT schemes to finance Consumer Infrastructure. Egypt, where Kharafi National is already established, serves as the company’s center for procurement and engineering and as a base to pursue and deliver projects in Africa. Kharafi National’s track record provides KN with a unique and strong position to deliver the infrastructure requirements in other post revolution countries in North Africa such as Libya and Tunisia. Sub Saharan Africa Kharafi National is exploring the opportunities to establish itself in the Sub Saharan region of Africa and work with local companies and governments to develop infrastructure projects including power and water. With the growing population in the Sub Saharan continent and increasing requirement to provide developed social and consumer infrastructure, Kharafi National has already taken its first step by establishing a base office in the Republic of South Sudan. KN continues to expand its developments and operations in new and potentially emerging markets. With an experience in PPP schemes, and a strong and extensively resourceful business development team, KN becomes the ideal partner to provide the ideal infrastructure solutions throughout the developing markets. In the next decade the newly proclaimed state of South Sudan will require unprecedented development in all sectors providing opportunities for investments that will allow the landlocked country to head towards being self sufficient and free from the current economic dependence on neighboring countries. Kharafi National aims at developing social infrastructure projects to meet the local community requirements mainly on PPP basis. To meet this goal in the Sub Saharan region, Kharafi National’s newly established office in Juba will service Eastern Africa. KN is currently evaluating the establishment of a similar facility in Angola to support Angola’s infrastructure requirement and meet the needs of neighboring West African nations.
