Welcome to our 12th Newsletter! We are thrilled to bring you news
regarding the exciting world of cut garden roses in general and our
boutique rose farm in particular.
Did you know that the first Hybrid Tea rose was a cross between the
China Tea Rose and the Hybrid Perpetual? It was called La France and
bred by Guillot, a rose breeder in the south of France. We actually
have several Guillot varieties on trial.

Let me welcome Nancy Montealegre to our sales team. She has
been in the flower business for over 10 years working for farms
as well known as Suasuque and Discovery Farms. She will be
managing our markets in Spain, the Caribbean, the middle east
and of course many accounts in the USA. New Varieties!

This year's wedding season promises to be the most exciting ever! The economy seems
to be recuperating, brides are starting to splurge on flowers again, and we have not only
lots of Juliet and Patience, but we have over 10 new variety introductions! (See below
for pictures) Oh, and lets not forget that Garden Roses are being featured in all the
industry and consumer publications! See below for some of the placements of Garden
Roses.
We are proud to announce that we have been certified by Florverde, the Colombian
Flower Exporters' Associations' (Asocolflores) environmental and social label version 6.
That means that we treat the environment and our people with respect and integrity.

Of course this season we will also have all of our tried and true varieties
like White O'Hara, Pink O'Hara, Caramel Antike, Romantik Antike, Pink
Piano, Alabaster, Mariatheresia, Baronesse, etc! Florverde
We are now officially certified as a Florverde Farm! We are one of the few farms in
all of Colombia that have achieved certification "Version 6" which sets higher
standards in many of the requirements.
Florverde is a Social and Environmental certification managed by Asocolflores and
verified by SGP. It deals with issues relating to employee treatment and industrial
protection as well as pesticide and fertilizer management.

Featured Variety
White Cloud
This is a variety we started to grow a couple years back as a code. When we first saw its
shape we knew it would be a hit! We propagated as fast as we could and now finally this
year, we will have some good amounts.
White Cloud is rather an international variety: comes from Germany, is grown in Colombia
and is a huge success in Japan during their wedding season: November and March. We
are sure it will be a huge hit in the US, Canada, UK and Australia this summer.
White cloud is a shy soul, slow to show its beauty and never too voluptuous. It has a
perfectly symmetrical cup shape and opens all the way. It has 80 to 100 petals so looks
real full.
