MALHÃO
BEACH
An undeveloped beach with extensive
sands, approximately 5 km north
of Vila Nova de Milfontes.
The waves are suitable for water sports
such as surf and bodyboard.
Naturism is permitted at the north
end of the beach.
04
FURNAS
BEACH
06
Situated on the south bank of the
River Mira, with Franquia and Farol
beach and part of Vila Nova de Milfontes
as a backdrop. The beach fronts both
the sea and the river, near its mouth,
where the sands are wider. There are two
ways of reaching it from Milfontes: via the
bridge or by the boat that links the two banks
of the river in the summer months.

DO MAR
BEACH
Nestling against steep cliffs on which
the village is perched, this beach is one
of the most popular tourist attractions
in the area.
Like all the others, it is flanked by small
pockets of sand. To the south, reached
by a dirt road, is Alteirinhos, a designated
naturist beach.
Town beaches reached from
Vila Nova de Milfontes. The gentle waves
make these beaches popular to families
with children, and also canoeists,
on the River Mira, and jet ski enthusiasts.
There are launching ramps nearby.
Boat excursions, either on the river or along
the coast, are another attraction.

BEACH
07
CARVALHAL
BEACH
Situated approximately 500 metres from the village
of Almograve. The sandy area of the beach is relatively
narrow but long. The low tide reveals a series of natural
pools that delight both little ones and grown ups.
However, at high tide heavy waves normally pound
the beach.
AFe_RoteiroPraias_ing.indd 2
Situated a few kilometres south
of Zambujeira do Mar.
The access is via a dirt road but
alternatively it can be reached
from the hamlet of Brejão.
The beach occupies a natural setting
featuring a deep valley cut by a creek
that crosses the beach to the sea.
