For over 30 years, Hornblower Cruises & Events has been treating guests to
unparalleled experiences on the water, with dining cruises, whale-watching
cruises, sightseeing cruises, corporate events and weddings. It’s the largest
– and most popular – private passenger vessel company in North America,
carrying over 16 million passengers on 150,000 voyages in 2012 alone.
Since its inception in 1980, Hornblower has been the recipient of a host of
industry awards and recognitions. But it was the pursuit of three prestigious
contracts – Alcatraz Cruises, Statue Cruises, and Hornblower Niagara
Cruises – that allowed Hornblower to really set sail and establish its position
as the perfect trifecta of North American boat tours.
ALCATRAZ CRUISES
In 2006, Alcatraz Cruises was awarded a U.S. National Park Service
concession for the exclusive operation of boat tours to the infamous
Alcatraz Island, California. Today, Alcatraz Cruises provides ticketing and
transportation to more than 1.5 million visitors to the island each year. Each
excursion is accompanied by an award-winning audio tour of the Cellhouse
and a dramatic retelling of the most famous Alcatraz escape attempts. The
tour is available in ten languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian,
Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Mandarin and Spanish.
It operates year-round. Guests of Alcatraz Cruises also have the luxury of
sightseeing aboard the Hornblower Hybrid – the first hybrid vessel in the
United States. The 64-metre-long catamaran runs entirely on a combination
of solar power, wind power, and low-emission diesel fuel.
STATUE CRUISES
Shortly after the launch of Alcatraz Cruises, Hornblower was awarded a
second U.S. National Park Service award and took over ferry service to the
Statue of Liberty National Monument & Ellis Island Memorial Museum
in New York. Visitors here are offered the once-in-a-lifetime experience
of traveling back in time to experience Ellis Island just as millions of
Americans did so long ago. Guests are offered two ticket options: Reserve
Tickets (specific date & time); or Flex Tickets (allowing flexibility when
choosing a date & time for the tour)
Guests can enjoy a 60-minute Harbour Tour aboard the Hornblower
Hybrid II, Hornblower’s second environmentally-friendly catamaran.
Passengers are picked up in Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan and taken
on a narrated tour offering up-close-and-personal views of both the Statue
of Liberty & Ellis Island.
HORNBLOWER NIAGARA CRUISES
In 2012, Hornblower Niagara Cruises won a highly competitive bidding
process and was awarded the contract by the Niagara Parks Commission for
exclusive boat tours in the infamous Niagara Gorge. Hornblower’s newest
subsidiary offers a whole new way to experience the iconic wonder of
Niagara Falls.
Guests cruise aboard all-new, state-of-the-art catamarans with 360 degree
tiered decks for unobstructed views and sheltered viewings areas for a full –
but dry – immersion in the awe of the mighty Niagara. Extended operating
hours offer all-new Sunset Cocktail Cruises, Falls Illuminations Cruises and
Falls Fireworks Cruises; allowing passengers to catch the magic of Niagara
at night. Souvenir audio guide – available in eight languages – is the perfect
tour companion.
