MEET JIM LEWIS!
What is your position at WCS? Director of Transportation
What are your primary responsibilities in your position? I'm
responsible for the preventative maintenance and 30 day
inspection programs for 118 school buses and 25 activity buses
for Wilson County Schools. I'm responsible for the safety and
efficiency of all 118 school bus routes. I'm also responsible for
training and supervising our 12 bus mechanics, 133 school bus
drivers, and 33 bus monitors. Finally, I'm responsible for
scheduling school bus and activity bus driver training classes and
ensuring that all bus mechanics and bus drivers have met the
license and certification requirements of the state of North
Carolina.
How long have you worked for WCS? I have worked for Wilson
County Schools for 33 years.
Where were you born? I was born in Wayne County.
What is your favorite color? My favorite color is red.
Do you have any pets?II have 1 dog, 1 cat, 3 quarter horses, and
a team of Belgian Draft horses.
What else would you like us to know?My

wife, Debbie, and I
have been happily married for 31 years. Debbie worked as a
Kindergarten Teacher Assistant, at Lucama & Lee Woodard and
retired after 30 years of service.Debbie and I have one son, Alex,
who graduated Cum Laud from the School of Business at East
Carolina University, in 2010.My father, William Lewis, was the first
principal at Beddingfield High School. He retired
from WCS's after 34 years of service.My

taught English Literature at Beddingfield High School and retired
after 30 years of service.
