Northern Breed Fun Match
It was a fantastic day and we had great fun. The weather was nice, not to hot, not to windy but
comfortable. We had 2/3 of the dogs entered the day of. Many because they saw how much fun
people were having with Karen Ramstead. She worked with everyone. She knew that most
hadn’t done this before but were very proud to show their dogs. We had 3 Samoyed, 2 Alaskan
Malamute, 26 Siberians, 20 sled dogs, and 2 basenjis (they also had Siberians but wanted to
practice with these two and sled dog is open to all that pay)
The winner of the Show was Kelly Collins with Piper…. Bill Griffiths had the top Malamute
with Rythym.
The Raffle brought in over $800 and the silent auction brought in over $1000…there was a
bidding war on Marie Stevens Wolf in the Windows quilt…..it was great.
This year Norsled did lunch but changed it up with ordering Togo’s. which worked out great.
Watch for this event again next year on Father’s day. We are considering bringing back Karen
again because people had sooo much fun.

Umunhum Run and Camping
July 27,28
August 10-11 (changed date)
Oct 5-6 (changed date)
This is TENTATIVE…can change from weather, Fire or schedules (like Baseball)
that cause us to change the date.
We meet around 5 pm on Saturday night and if the weather
allows, we run the dogs between 7 and 9 pm. If it is warm
we eat dinner first and then run them. They run from 1 mile
to 7 miles, again it is based on the weather… Dinner is a
group effort.
Some people then camp in tents but most campout in their
cars or beside them.
In the morning we rise with the sun and run the dogs again. We try different dogs in different
positions and come back to a GREAT group breakfast and off the hill by 11 am…. You still
have time to do things before the end of the weekend.
Time to meet- 5 pm at the lowest gate (there are three locked gates so we have
to stay together)
RSVP Randee at (408) 371-1841 or [email protected] by the WEDNESDAY before the weekend to
find out what to bring and for how many.
What you need to bring- your own drinks,
sleeping bag, food for your dog and food for dinner
and or breakfast

Harry Potter is a sweet and loving 7 month old piebald Siberian Husky. He is presently 40
pounds and will grow to be a 55 pound dog. Harry is crate trained but not house-broken. He
is afraid to go through a door into the house and most likely was a back-yard dog. He should
be easy to house train as he is fine in a crate. Harry has not had any basic training but is
smart and and food motivated, he will be easy to train. He does not pull when walking on a
leash. He is fine with all sizes of dogs. I do not know about cats. He is good with children
but is mouthy.

Dibbs is a wonderful and lovely dog. As our foster home learns more about him we will
post more. He gets along well with other dog (there are three in the foster home) and rides
well in a car. He is well trained, walks great on a leash and has the ability and intelligence
to figure out a latch to go and see who he wants to see. So a lock on a gate is a must.

Shadow came to us from San Jose Shelter. he was an owner surrender and the family did
not have time for him. He was an outdoor only dog. He had fly strike on his ears and is
really shy around other people. He is housetrained and loves to go for walks around the
neighborhood. He is gentle and good with other large dogs. He needs some TLC and
patients but will make a great companion for someone.
From Maddies Fund we raised $17,000.00 for rescue to use on our rescues and foster homes. We
hope to participate again next year
We are using some of the funds to buy crates, beds, brushes, toys, donut e-collars and more for
foster homes. Most of us use things found at garage sales and donated from
other people….. so usually there is something wrong with it…but they work. This
way the foster homes get to start out with whole crates and beds without holes….
We also purchased t-shirts for all of those helping rescue.
