The Resident Council Meetings are held on the 3rd
Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. This month’s
meeting is February 18 in the game room. Please
feel free to contact any of the officers regularly if you
have a concern that you would like to share in the
time between meetings.
MALLARD COVE BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB:
This is a monthly book discussion group that meets
in the Game room at 7pm on the 4th Friday of each
month. This month’s meeting will be held on
Friday, February 26. All residents are welcome to
join and we encourage new members to participate
every month, or even just during months when
certain book selections seem appealing. All books
and materials are provided each month free of
charge. Please see a member of the Life Enrichment
Department for more information or to join the
group.

OUTREACH SERVICES: This is a service
offered free of charge through the Cincinnati
Public Library. Outreach is designed to
provide library services to those individuals
unable to take advantage of traditional library
services due to disability or other special
needs. They visit Mallard Cove on the Last
Wednesday of each month and will bring
your books and/materials directly to your
apartment door. Materials that need to be
returned can also be picked up at this time
by simply putting your books in the provided
outreach bag and placing outside your door.

you would like more information or would like
to utilize these services.

CHINESE MUSIC WITH MING KE
4 P.M. IN THE BISTRO DURING SOCIAL HOUR
The internationally renowned Pipa virtuoso, Ming Ke, has appeared as a soloist with principal
orchestras in China, Japan, Spain, and the United States to critical acclaim since her formal debut in 1985. Described
in the Cincinnati Enquirer as a performer whose “performances sparkle with grace and expression,” Ming is a master
interpreter of traditional and contemporary music for the Pipa, a four-stringed Chinese chordophone whose history
dates from ca. 200 BC. Join us in celebrating The Year of the Monkey!

The Sweet and Lows is an A cappella duo that specializes in music from the 40s, 50s, and 60s.
They take their inspiration from such singers as Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, and The Andrews Sisters. In this
Valentine’s Day performance, the Sweet and Lows sing some of your favorite love songs like “Can’t Help Falling in
Love,” “Steppin’ Out,” “A Bushel and A Peck,” and many more! The duo delights audiences with tight A cappella
harmonies, vintage-style costumes, and energetic choreography!

THE WILD HONEY BAND
7 P.M. IN THE THEATRE
The Wild Honey Band is a seasoned group of veteran musicians who have performed with some
of the country’s top show bands over the years. Wild Honey plays music from the 50s through the
present including pop, blues, country, jazz, and dance. One of the band’s specialties is performing for
“senior” audiences. Over the past few years, Wild Honey has performed multiple shows in a number
of local senior residential facilities in Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

CHUCK WIGGINS DUO
7 P.M. IN THE THEATRE
Chuck and Deb Wiggins are a vocal/instrumental duo based in Cincinnati. Their music ranges from light
jazz/pop/folk instrumentals to creative vocal versions of cover songs. Chuck also likes to explore the
realms of “gypsy” folk and jazz instrumentals. The digital accordion allows them to bring an ensemble
sound into a solo setting, without using prerecorded material.

HealthRhythms is an enlivening group drumming
program, which research has proven, significantly
increases the disease fighting activity of circulating
white blood cells. The program is all about learning,
discovering, enjoying, and sharing musical insights that
can help everyone improve quality of life. HealthRhythms
includes a protocol which consists of the following
ten steps: 1.Introducing the program, reviewing the
health benefits of group drumming 2.Wellness exercise
harmonizes mind, body, and spirit 3. Breaking the ice,
shaker pass – enables the group to feel at ease 4.The ABCs
of drumming 5. Rhythmic Naming: playing the rhythm
of one’s name 6. Entrainment Building: participants copy
a foundational rhythm 7. Inspirational beats, drumming
responses for individuals facing challenges of chronic
illness 8. Guided Imagery Drumming: focuses on
breathing and a progressive muscle relaxation exercise
9.Wellness Exercise 10. The Finale: creates an ambience
of reflection and expression.
You don’t have to leave your chair to enjoy the benefits of
Stott Pilates, a modified approach to the original Pilates
exercise method that is specific to older adults. It is ideal
for individuals with mobility limitations, arthritis, or
anyone looking to improve or maintain their overall health.
This seated routine of gentle stretching, strengthening,
and breathing works the arms, legs, and torso. Join this
class for a workout that increases circulation, strengthens
posture, and improves flexibility.
Get Fit with Trish
Every Other Monday at 10:45 a.m.
Get Fit is an all over body workout that includes weight
training (if desired) including upper body, lower body and
core strengthening activities in a relaxed environment.
Personal Training with CelineExercise Room*
Wednesdays @ 9:30 a.m.
*Interested residents should contact activities to sign
up for a session.
Celine offers individual training to increase strength,
flexibility, balance, control, and muscular symmetry for
your body. Programmable exercise machines allow you
to set the amount of time and resistance to achieve your
goals. Gradually increasing resistance and time will
improve your life. These machines can increase strength,
flexibility and endurance when used properly.
Restorative Yoga with Lynne - THTR
Tuesdays and Fridays @ 10:45 a.m.
Lynne Carroll leads this beneficial Yoga program
designed with you in mind. It is a 45 minute class
filled with Yoga practices geared toward healthy aging.
Each exercise included in this program are done while
seated in a chair and can be particularly helpful with
relieving the symptoms of arthritis, hypertension, and
osteoporosis. Other benefits include improved balance,
posture, and strength. This class can help aid with
pain management, reduce stress, and improve immune
function. It’s a wonderful, relaxing way to start your day.
