Fellowship Program - Juno Beach Centre
Juno Beach Centre
Fellowship Program
Do you have a passion for Canadian Military History?
Looking for a new and exciting research experience?
Apply to participate in the new Juno Beach Centre Fellowship Program!
The Juno Beach Centre Fellowship Program
will grant a fellowship opportunity to a student
dedicated to the study and pursuit of knowledge
surrounding Canada’s military activities in the
First and Second World Wars. The program
offers students a unique opportunity to
foster their future careers and enhance their
educational experience. The duration of the
Fellowship is one year, with research taking
place within your Post-Secondary institution
in Canada AND at the Juno Beach Centre in
Courseulles-sur-Mer, Normandy (up to 8 days).
Throughout the Fellowship term, the Fellow
is expected to act as representative for the
Juno Beach Centre, as well as attend events,
conferences, and communicate regular updates
on the status of their research to the staff in
Canada and Normandy.
Each year will contain a broad theme from which
the Fellow will draw inspiration to elevate their
research topic. To mark the inaugural year of the
Program, the theme for the 2015/16 Fellowship
is From Vimy to Juno. Research work should
include many aspects of the theme From Vimy to
Juno, such as:
• Exploring the links between the First and
Second World War and how these two unique
events share many common characteristics,
• Addressing the similarities and differences
between the two wars, and the experience of
soldiers, civilians, and life on the home front
• Examining the aftermath of both wars and
the preservation and commemoration of
events.
The Fellowship Program offers a paid trip to the
Juno Beach Centre (for up to 8 days) to conduct
primary research. On completion of the Fellowship
and delivery of the final research report, recipients
will receive an honorarium of $2000.
