Dear Zoo
I Wish I Had a Pet
Each animal arriving from the
zoo as a possible pet fails to
suit its prospective owner, until
just the right one is found.
Movable flaps reveal the
contents of each package.
The mice in this book know all
about critter care, and they’re
here to share wise words about
choosing and keeping animal
companions.

CREATE TOGETHER!
FEBRUARY 2015
Animal Letters
Materials:
READ TOGETHER!
• Construction paper
• Reading with a child is an excellent way to spend
time together, regardless of whether it’s on a book
or a screen. Try to give your child book options in
digital and print form.
• One of the most important activities for building
the knowledge that is needed for successful
reading is reading aloud to children.
• Reading together is a great way to introduce new
vocabulary and build up “background knowl
edge.” Background knowledge is all of the knowl
edge that readers bring with them to understand
new situations, including books and other media.
• Scissors
• Glue

SING TOGETHER!
Mary Had a Little Lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school one day,
Which was against the rule,
It made the children laugh and play
To see a lamb at school.
Ten Little Doggies
Ten little doggies went out one day,
To dig in the dirt and play, play, play.
Five were spotted, and five were not,
and at dinnertime they ate a lot!
