pet guardian program
PET GUARDIAN PROGRAM A special benefit of The Legacy Society, which is open to anyone who has included The Humane Society of Rochester and Monroe County PCA, Inc., in his or her estate plans, is the ability to enroll pets in the Pet Guardian Program. As long as you continue to support the Humane Society with an annual donation, this program allows you to designate Lollypop Farm as temporary guardian for any pets who outlive you. Pets are admitted to the shelter by our trusted staff and cared for as dear friends. While we search for the perfect new family, we coordinate their care with a foster family as needed. They’ll also be provided quality medical care and vaccinations from our veterinary staff to ensure their health. PROGRAM BENEFITS • You have the opportunity to write detailed care instructions that will be giving to your pet’s future guardians. • Your pet will have access to a foster home and cared for there if adoption is not immediate. • While under our care, your pet will receive medical care and vaccines, as needed, from our veterinary staff.* Enrolling pets is easy. Any Legacy Society member simply needs to request our detailed Pet Guardian Enrollment Form and maintain an annual donation, in any amount, to the Humane Society. For more information about this program, please call Cathie Wright, Senior Director of Development & Donor Relations, at 585-223-1330 ext. 245. *Lollypop Farm will care for your pet in accordance with reasonable and compassionate ownership practices. This means that we may have to make the difficult decision to euthanize a pet if its quality of life becomes severely diminished or if our behavior staff determines that the pet is dangerous. Also, to reduce pet overpopulation and increase the likelihood of returning lost pets to their homes, Lollypop Farm will spay or neuter and microchip all animals adopted through Pet Guardian Program.
